Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Thursday

30 degrees on my walk this morning but there was no wind at all, and once the sun came out it warmed up.  When I got home it was 44.

Walked first to the post office and dropped the mail in the slot and then walked around the farm loop.  A beautiful morning and nice to be back home again with the farm animals. : )  The chicken and roosters were out this morning.
Walked around town and one of the cemeteries.  Saw Lisa, the runner, a man walking his dog and a woman walking her dog and we were all in the cemetery.

Yesterday walking around the lake I realized those little hills around the lake that seemed steep at times were little bumps on the path compared to the mountain roads I walk up and down here.  : )

I walked 6.2 miles.

Right after breakfast Ken went up to Happy Trails for the day.  I decided to stay home because I had lots to do around the house.  The morning I spent inside getting some house chores done.

Such nice weather that I got to hang the two loads of laundry outside on the line.

After I had some lunch I went outside.  I dug up the rest of the plants and rose bushes and now it is ready for the herb garden.  We decided to make raised beds so that is the next step.

Time to relax and read a bit before Ken gets back home.

A happy day to you.

Sounds as if you had a productive day and it has to be nice for Ken to have Happy Trails to work on. You will love the raised beds and since you work well together... It was only 20 this morning, but I still enjoyed my 15 minutes around the block. I have to get some new sneaks before I add more time.

It has been a lovely day here, too! I believe we are able to say spring is here!

Have you grown herbs before? I really enjoy having fresh herbs growing outside the door.

You were more ambitious than I today. I have lots of inside chores, but chose to ignore them.:)

It's all in your perspective, isn't it?

I am trying to decide what to do. I am going hiking tomorrow and the trailhead is a long way off, so I am going to leave very early and not eat first. Do you think I should rush it at McD's along the way, or stop and have a nice breakfast up in the mountains but hit the trail even later? It is a dilemma! :^) Art

Hello on a gorgeous, spring day in TENNESSEE. Wow---after the long and bitter winter we had this year, Spring is even more inviting and lovely.

We probably weren't too far from you all --on our latest trip... You all need to visit the Shenandoahs sometime. Gorgeous area--but probably no prettier than where you live.

We are now home 'again' --after our 5th trip since the end of February.... Seems as if we visited five different states --although the trips weren't planned for that reason... ha... BUT--as I always say, it's great to be home... I did publish a blog post today--so check it out when you have time. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs,
Betsy

I can close my eyes and hear my mom's laundry popping in the wind.
