Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A quiet day at home

8 degrees this morning and after a few snow flurries the sun came out. : )  Another 5 1/2 mile walk in the basement listening to the next disc.

One nice thing about having snow on the ground for most of the winter is that it sure makes winter pretty.  I'd rather see things covered in blankets of white instead of brown dead things where it all seems so drab and colorless.  Though I know you can find beauty in that too if you look.
The sun shining on the white snow this morning was actually glistening and looked like someone had spread glitter over the snow.  So I'll put up with the snow of winter for the beauty of it. : )

Got a few things done around the house and then put a few more pieces of the puzzle together.  I've been thinking of taking this one apart and doing another one, it's that hard!!

I went outside for a little while again today just to walk around the yard in the fresh air.

I finished reading the first book in the Cedar Cove series, 16 Lighthouse Road.  It was pretty good.  I'll be starting the second book later tonight, 204 Rosewood Lane.

It's been pretty quiet day around the homestead today.
Hope you are enjoying your day.

Vee - I'm sure by March we won't be getting much snow anymore, though I remember coming up here last year and it snowed in April.
OE - There is about a foot of snow on the ground here.

We are supposed to get several inches of snow here in Southern Maryland tomorrow night. I hope we do. It certainly won't compare with your snowfalls, but I'll take it! I know this is totally off subject, but I was wondering if you have any special clothing for when you walk outside in the cold. I would like to do that, but am unsure how many layers, etc., are really necessary, so I thought I'd ask a pro to help me with that!

I agree with you...snow is prettier than mud. I find early spring the most challenging time of year for that reason. Quiet days are good days.

Hi There, Can't believe all of the snow you get --all winter. Wow!!!! I'd love it --but I'm not happy about it right now. I'm so disappointed tonight. We have reservations to spend 3 days (Wed-Fri) at Cashiers, NC at a quaint little inn there in the mountains... AND--they are predicted to have between 6-10 inches of snow plus sleet and power outages tomorrow... We can't even get into that area in that kind of weather.. They don't have equipment to clear the roads there. SO--we have to cancel that trip... We were both looking so forward to this little trip since we were going to do some hiking and search waterfalls while there... Oh Well--tis life!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

I tend to agree with you about the snow being prettier than the drab browns and grays.
We are currently bracing for a storm that may drop 6-12" of snow tomorrow. That is a lot for these parts.
Your day sounds like a nice one indeed.

I hope that the snow and ice predicted for the south is not as bad as TV is saying. The ice is especially treacherous.

The glistening snow sounds lovely! We have a chance of some snow in our area, but the sources can't all agree on how much or when it will come. I'll just be surprised with whatever we have.:-)

Hi Karen - wow this nice quiet day at home sounds so nice. My day yesterday was utterly hectic...run,run, run. Today and tomorrow will be much the same. I love reading your posts about quiet days. I know what you mean about the puzzle. I just started a new one and it is hard to get them going! Enjoy book number in the Cedar Cove series!

Don't give up on that puzzle. Think of the feeling of accomplishment when you get it done.
