Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Hair Day

We ended up eating supper yesterday at Ledo's because when we went by Santa Fe there was a sign on the door saying it was closed for maintenance.  Which was okay.  I can always eat pizza.

Snowing again this morning and it was 4 degrees so I walked in the basement listening to Matthew Ryan this time.  I walked just over 5 miles.

Time for the hairdresser again and walked over there to get my hair done.  Boy six weeks sure goes by fast.  I brought my knitting to do while waiting and there was another woman there knitting too.  : )
I'm just at the end of my driveway in the picture and I just have to walk over there to that building on the left so you can see I really do live just a block away.
In the corner of one of the closets downstairs in the basement I've thrown all the wrapping paper, boxes, cards, and other Christmas wrapping items as well as regular wrapping paper.  It was all in a heap and quite a mess.  This afternoon I sorted things out.  Threw some stuff away and put things in a couple of tote bins and put them up on the shelf in the laundry room.  Much better now.

I've done a little more cross stitch and would still like to read later.  I'm reading Songs of Willow Frost which is the book for my book club next month.  The book is okay.  Nothing special but not bad enough not to see how it ends.

Hope your day is a happy one.

Three Things I'm Thankful for Today
  1. Being able to just walk down the street for my hair appointment and for having found Sherry to do my hair.
  2. A nice cup of hot tea mid afternoon.
  3. My Ott light and a good pair of magnifying glasses for doing counted cross without which I wouldn't be able to do it anymore.

It is always good to have a new haircut. I have to go every 4-5 weeks, though. The wind has really been strong here, too. Stay warm!

I can't do it anymore. I have heard good things about Ott lights. It looks nice and snowy and cold there. It must be pretty cool to just walk over to the hairdresser's or anywhere in town.

I miss my little town where I only lived 3 blocks from the post office and only 2 blocks from the library.
You have a lovely scene in the photo.

I am still trying to do it, but think my eyesight is telling me otherwise. I am going to look into an Ott light. I am currently working with the gold metallic thread and often feel like I am just guessing where to stick the needle.
How wonderful to be able to walk to your hair appt. I would love that.

It always feels good to clean and organize. We are doing lots of that around here. I should go through and organize my gift wrap etc. too. Your hairdresser surely is convenient.

I don't go for a haircut as often as I used to...mainly because my hair is mysteriously thinning. What's up with that!?

Have you had the corn chowder/black bean soup from Santa Fe? They decorate the bowl with the ingredients to look like a desert scene. I can't wait to go back there. I hope to make it up your way this winter.
