Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Getting started

It was a calm 35 degrees this morning and all the snow is now gone.  Once again it is dark when I start walking and I couldn't tell when sunrise was because it was cloudy.  I started off walking to the library to drop off a book in the drop, then passed by LC and friends and then walked the farm loop in the opposite direction than usual.

Deer hunting season has started so I've been wearing my nice bright orange sweat shirt.  I'm in the open and shouldn't come across any hunters, but I'm just being safe.  I did hear gun shots off in the distance.

There must not be any school today because I didn't see any school buses or kids around and it was a pretty quiet walk.

I walked 6.2 miles - 12,186 steps.
Sunrise: 7:20
Sunset: 4:53
November ended up being a good month for finding coins after all - $1.61

5 dimes
1 nickel

This morning I went to visit Harry and brought him a little pumpkin bread.  He was in the physical therapy room again so I went there.  Charles the therapist is quite a character and everyone likes him.  I met a woman using one of the machines that looked like a modified bicycle and a man sitting there waiting his turn.  We talked for a while and then it was time for Harry to 'walk' back to his room.  On the way I met Shelby one of the cleaning ladies.  Lots of residents were gathered in the dining room decorating little Christmas trees and every one was getting one in their room.  The nursing home was all decorated for Christmas and there was a happy cheerful atmosphere throughout the home.  I left with a happy feeling. : )

This afternoon Ken climbed the ladder and starting putting Christmas lights up on the house.  I helped down below getting the lights out of the boxes and handing him things.  I went inside before he did and started decorating seasonal boxes in the foyer.  Neither job got all the way finished but we got a good start.

I haven't started writing out Christmas cards yet.  In fact I haven't even bought the cards but I did make out the list of who to send them to. : )

The day went by much too fast and I didn't get all the things done that I wanted to, but I guess that's what tomorrow is for.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Sounds like a good day. Mine was spent traveling back from New England and getting in a half day at work.

Good idea to wear the blaze orange. Most deer hunters are pretty cautious and sure of what they are shooting at but why tempt fate? Art

This sounds like a great day! We are slow to finish our decorating, too.
It's good to hear that the nursing home is such a cheerful place.

Sounds like a nice day even though you didn't get everything finished. Most of my days are like that...always seems to be something left on my "to-do" list. So nice that you are making some friends at the nursing home. I really love your quote for the day...Ben Franklin really hit the nail on the head there. Have a wonderful day tomorrow! See you then!

It all sounds great. I am so touched that you are taking the time to visit the nursing home. You are a very special lady. YUMM!! Pumpkin bread! I have been thinking about making some.

Wise gal to be wearing that blaze orange! Our regular hunting season ended a few days ago, but muzzle loading started this morning at dawn.

Sounds as if it was a great change month! Have you found a place that's pretty good for finding it? I'd head for the grocery store parking lot.

Do we get to see the lights? We left ours out all year and I don't dare to try them out. Somehow I thought we'd use them in the summer. Nope. It didn't happen.

Enjoy the decorating!

Since I do a lot of hiking I always make sure to wear lots of orange this time of year :)

Smart idea to wear the orange clothing.
How fun to be finding coins again.
I just know the workers and residents at the nursing home will be glad to see you coming.
Sounds like you are making a good start with your Christmas preparations. Hope we get to see the boxes when they're done.

You two just keep moving forward. I haven't realized that Christmas is actually so close.
Glad you're cautious when walking during hunting season.
