Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

More horses, more making and more laundry

Nice to get back out and walk this morning after missing yesterday.  It was 25 degrees with a slight breeze and I watched the sun come up.  I walked the farm loop and around town.

A couple of horses I haven't seen before came down by the fence.  The other horses must have been talking about me. : )
They smelled my hand and then I petted them both.
At one of the cemeteries I saw a woman walking her dog but was too far away to say anything to her.
Saw some rabbit prints in the snow but no sign of them.

I walked 6.5 miles - 12,616 steps.

Ken went up to Happy Trails today and I decided to stay home.  I had lots of things I wanted to do inside.
One of which was making Pumpkin Whoopies.  I got the recipe from blogger friend Nellie at Berries and More which you can find HERE.  Thanks Nellie, they are delicious.  I'm thinking like you Nellie, that I next time I'll use a smaller scoop!
I like to bake and these were fun to make.  : )  They do take quite a lot of time though.  I didn't eat lunch because I ate too much of the batter!! There was one left without a top so I put icing on that and ate that too.  One thing nice about having your kids grown and gone is that you get to lick the the bowl and beaters!!
I did a load of laundry and hung it on my inside line down in the basement in my drying room.  I keep forgetting to post a picture of it but remembered today.
We went to Mountain State Brewery for supper and had a pizza.

I'm going to read some before television time.  I have three books I'd like to finish before starting on next months book club selection which is Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline.  It sounds good and I think I'm going to like this one!!

Hope your Thursday was a good one.

Kim - Yes, I froze some of the pumpkin breads.  I'll be making more of them too.  They make great little gifts. : )  I looked at the time you left your comment and I was indeed out there walking and was taking pictures of the horses above. : )

Thank you for the Whoopie Pie reference! I really liked them, and for that reason haven't made them again.:-) It was too tempting to eat too much of them. I never have bought a smaller scoop, though.

How neat that you saw some different horses! They seem very interested in you!

That is quite a "drying room" you have there! I have no place to dry clothes like that in this house.

The book sounds interesting. I will have to look into it!

Have a good night.

I love the cookies. They look so good! Thanks for sharing the picture of your "drying room." Looks a little like what my back bedroom looks like. I love hanging my clothes to dry. You were my role model for that and so I guess you could say you and your blog changed my life! ;-) Have a great Friday!

I have seen the book Orphan Train listed on a number of sites and wondered about it. I will be eager to hear what you think about it.

Is there anything better than a walk in the morning?

So cute how the horses came to visit you. Word is probably getting around that you are the friendly lady who walks every morning :).
Those whoopie pies look mighty good.
I can also see how your pum[kin loaves would make perfect gifts. Just the right size.
Looks like you have a great area to dry your clothes.
