Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A Women's Prerogative

It's a women's prerogative to change her mind and that is exactly what I'm doing! : )  You are all going to think I'm crazy after saying I didn't want to blog anymore and then here I am back again after not even a week away, but I've come to realize that I just can't give it up.
The first few days it was nice having a break but then I remembered all the reasons why I like to blog and they seem to have overcome the reasons not to.   Sooo it looks like I'm here to stay.  I do want to say thank you to you all for all the wonderful and kind things you had to say about me and my blog.  Many of them brought tears to my eyes.
I had my usual morning walk though it was an hour later.  I must have needed that extra hour of sleep.  It's been foggy and misty for days now though this morning it was just fog and no mist.  A warm 55 degrees too.  It is so pretty walking past the farms.
Here's a couple of pictures from today.

School had already started when I walked passed the school so didn't have any school traffic, not that there is ever very much anyway.  Today instead of few cars coming by there were none!!
I saw a couple of mallard ducks in one of the farm ponds and another black duck with a white ring around it's neck.

A couple of women were out running/walking with a dog and an old gentleman peddled past me on his bike and asked me if I wanted to race.
Bob who works at the tractor store was out in the parking lot and waved to me as I walked by.  He was talking to the gentleman that had passed me just a bit ago on his  bike.

The barn extension is coming along pretty good.  Looks like it just needs to be painted and have the door added.
Nice to be out walking and also nice to be sharing it with you again.  Writing about my walk lets me enjoy it all over again and it is nice to go back and read about my walks once in a while.  It also makes me appreciate and thankful for all the beauty that surrounds me.

I walked 6 miles this morning but didn't write down the steps.
We've been out and about doing things the past 5 days and it's nice to be spending the day at home.  We are waiting for the counter top man to call.  Work should begin tomorrow.

Even though it is still cloudy, I think it's dry enough for me to go out and mow the lawn now.  So off I go.

Thanks for putting up with me on my off on again blog decision.
It has just been a few days, but it is nice to be back again.
Hope your day is a happy one.

 Summer ends, and Autumn comes,
and he who would have it otherwise
would have high tide always and a full moon every night;
and thus he would never know
the rhythms that are at the heart of life.

  1. Welcome back! Your pictures show some lovely fall color where you are.

I need my memory refreshed about what you are planning about the countertops.:-)

Your Borland quote is an excellent one! Have a good afternoon!

  2. Here you are...sometimes I think we take our blogging buddies for granted and assume that they will always be writing and right there waiting when we get down to visiting. So thank you for not staying away just because you may have said something like that. I'm learning a lesson or two from all this...to take a break when it seems I need one. Gee. I think it's called blogging without obligation.

The photos are so pretty in the mist. The barn looks really wonderful now. I'm sure you'll show it with paint and the new door, too.

  3. Glad you are back to blogging. I enjoy all of your bloggings.

  4. Hip Hip Hooray!! I came speeding over here as soon as you told me the good news.
You know I totally understand your feelings on this matter. I guess after blogging all these years something feels so not right to totally abandon it.
You know I am happy that you made this decision. I was already missing you something fierce.
Beautiful photos of the colorful trees in your area.

  5. Welcome back! I do really enjoy checking in on you every day, but I'm trying to find the balance myself. I just can't keep up daily, and I'm happy with 5 or 6 times a week. But I'm thinking 3 or 4 may be a batter balance for me. Whatever you choose, i'll be checking in.

  6. Glad you're back. I've been enjoying your photo blog while you've been away :)

  7. I am delighted you are back Karen.
Your photos today are so colorful. The leaves are changing to a dull muddy color here and falling off the trees because of the summer drought I guess.

  8. And it's GREAT to have you back!!
Those trees in your pics are awesome!! and I bet when it snows you are going to have some awesome snow pics to show us :)

  9. Welcome back! I've been away for four days (up your way actually, near Frostburg) and it was a nice surprise to see you had posted again. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, of course. Art

  10. So glad you are back! I had been feeling like a good friend moved away...but now you have moved back! So enjoy our daily "chats." Can't wait to see what you new counter tops look like. We need new counter tops here too. Have a great day and we'll "talk" again tomorrow!

  11. I'm so glad you decided to continue. I love your stories and the photos are always beautiful.

  12. I'm guilty of not commenting very often but I do enjoy (and always have enjoyed) reading your blog posts and seeing the beautiful scenery in your photos.

I don't blog nearly as much as I used to. It seems something else is always happening that is more important. I'd love to be able to devote more time to it but it is not always possible.

So I guess what I am saying is, post when you can or feel like it, but please don't feel like you 'have' to do it because then it's no longer fun. That's the advantage of the RSS feed, so we know when you do post! :-)

  13. HiKaren, I read your blog every day but today is my first time to post a comment. I enjoy your photos of the beautiful countryside.
I checked your site today to see, if maybe, there was a new post.
    Thanks for coming back!
    A Tennessee Friend

  14. Coming back to blogging is the next best thing to moving back to Ellicott City.
    Welcome back. Mary Jo

  15. I am so happy! I closed my blog down this morning. I will start anew in January when there is less things to do and a lot less drama in our lives with the constant snide comments by people we don't talk about. In the meantime, I was so bummed that I was losing you too at the same time. I promised to be back in January with a different outlook but until then I hope to just chat with you here. Much Love, Pam

  16. Very glad you changed your mind... glad to see you are back again.

  17. Thanks for coming back---I read your blog every day.

  18. Hello my long time friend, I was missing sharing
your day with you thru your blogging.

I'm so happy you are back! I'm looking forward to the uocoming winter photos.

  19. Hello Happyone. I'm so glad you changed your mind. Your extended family, including me, needs you.
