Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

The pellets arrived

A little bit warmer this morning than it has been with a temperature of 58 degrees, but it was pretty windy so it didn't feel that warm.
I walked directly up to the school and started around the farm loop. I am headed out to a different road than I usually walk on and I've put an arrow so you can see where I'm headed.
I didn't take this road that heads back home,
but turned left up this road on my way to the arrow.
I passed some cows in a field and a ground hog ran out from his house along the side of the road and across the street.

When I got up to the top of the hill the road leveled out a bit and I turned around and took this picture.  The arrow is where I was standing when I took the other arrow picture.  Isn't that some odd looking tree!!
I turned around again and walked a little farther down the road until I came to this 4 Sale sign kind of hidden there in the weeds, where I turned around and headed back toward home.
When we were looking for land to buy before we bought Happy Trails we looked at this piece of land for sale.  It had a pretty view but was cleared so it wasn't what we were looking for.  We had forgotten all about it until driving down this street a couple of weeks ago and realized we had looked at this land.   That neat odd looking tree from the picture is what made us remember because I had taken a picture of it at that time.
HERE is that picture.

A few school buses passed me on the way home and all the drivers waved at me.  I walked back to the main road and home.  I really enjoyed this walk!!  Great being out there!!

I walked 6.4 miles - 12,206 steps.
I made some chocolate chippers this morning.  A man that we know who works at the edge town in one of the stores is not having the best of times and I was feeling bad for him.  So this afternoon when I took my car out for a ride I stopped by and gave him some cookies to try to cheer him up a bit. Seeing his smile and the look in his eyes, I was sure glad I did. : )

We finally had our pallets of pellets delivered this afternoon.
That's two tons of them in those white bags with my car.  It seems like a lot of pellets to me!!!  Ken assures me we will use them all up.
Here is a picture of our pellet stove.
This is what the pellets look like.  The top of the stove opens up to put them in.
I read some more of the book for the book club which is Wednesday evening.  I just have about 40 more pages to read so I won't have any trouble finishing it and hope to finish it later.

Well, that's been my day so far.
Hope your day has given you many smiles.

Deb - No, that isn't my church.  It is the church here in my town that plays the bells on Sunday and at noon time. : )  There are a lot of churches around here and I thought each Sunday when I post a Bible verse I'd put a church steeple picture up too.  At least for as long I take pictures of them.

  1. That was so nice of you to make the cookies for the man in the store. It was a random act of kindness. You are an inspiration.

  2. That IS an odd looking tree. So unique. Love that pellet stove by the way. And may I have some chocolate chippers? :)

  3. I like your idea of putting in the arrows in your photos. How good you gave the man those cookies; he will long remember that and smile.

  4. Your stove is cute and looks a lot like the ones I know. Ha! That tree looks as if it's holding its own umbrella. I like the arrows, too. Gives me a real sense of all the ground you cover!

  5. You know, you drive a pretty fancy car!

  6. You are truly a nice person!
What a nice walk and a cool tree.
I bet you will burn all those pellets, especially if the winter is a cold one.

    Enjoy the day.

  7. That is so nice that you took those cookies to that man. What a sweet gesture to help him feel better and be happy! I love this pellet stove. Being from Arizona, I knew nothing about this kind of stove. How much of your home will it heat? That tree is a bit odd looking. Maybe half of it was struck by lightening at one time. Glad yo had such a nice walk. I enjoyed reading this post! See you tomorrow!

  8. It will be interesting to see what kind of experience you have with that pellet stove.
