Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

An old house in town

I was surprised by the warm temperature of 65 degrees this morning!  It was windy too  which was nice because it kept me a little cool.

I walked the same route as yesterday.  A lady walking her dog was on the farm loop and we stopped to talk.  I think everyone stops and talks here because you rarely run into people and it is just the friendly thing to do.

As I walked passed these black bulls, all but one of them stopped eating and watched me walk by.  I told them all good morning and to have a nice day. : )
I'm glad that I found this other road to walk along.  I like it better than walking through all the cemeteries in town.  Well, maybe not so much better but I have more choices now.

I walked 6.1 miles - 11,783 steps.
This morning we went to Walmart and got a little shopping done.  We seem to go and get stuff more often than we used to and never really have LOTS of groceries at one time.  I'm not sure what I like better.
I've walked and driven by this old house in town lots of times.  I've learned that at one time a family lived on the right side of it and owned the general store that was on the left side.
Then it was an antique store and all the stuff is still inside just sitting there growing older and older and collecting dust.  I put my camera right up to the window and took this picture.  You can still see the words up along the sides of the wall telling what they were selling and the peeling old tin ceiling when it was the general store.
Just home this afternoon doing a little of this and that around the house.
Hope your day is good one.

OE - come on over and you can have some cookies. : )
Deb -  The people who lived here before us heated the whole house with the pellet stove.  They just turned on the fan which runs throughout the house and that kept it warm.  Since this is our first winter here we shall have to see what works best for us.

  1. What an interesting old building! I love to browse in antique stores, and usually find something I simply cannot live without.:-)

    Those cows are so funny!

  2. Someone should take that old antique store and fix it up and OPEN it for business... Bet they'd sell a bunch of those treasures... Is anyone living in the house --or is it empty also???? Sad, huh????

Hot here now---and we said today that summer is here. YUK.... I am SO ready for FALL. We do have some signs of Fall ---but it's hard to get excited as long as it is so hot.... ha

  3. I love antiques. There is a little ole antique store here in Berea, KY that I love! Is this a new blog layout? I love it!

  4. Wow - I'm surprised that they just kept all of that in there .
    Love those MOOS!
