Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A great weekend

We had such a nice time at the cookout yesterday and the weather stayed nice. A little cloudy but no rain.  What a great family Mary Jo has and we all got along like old friends.  Great food and fun people - we did a lot of laughing and didn't get home till 9:00.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning it was 60 degrees and once again a bit of fog around when I started walking but the sun eventually did come out.  You can see in the picture that a few leaves have already started falling.
It was very quiet this morning, just like a Sunday.
I didn't see any people but the birds were out singing and the some of the cows were down by the fence.
The chickens were out roaming around on both sides of the road.  It's nice that they get to roam all over the place.  Later on when I passed the lone chicken in the cage, I told her she should try to escape and go live with the free chickens over at the farm.
This morning I walked 6.3 miles - 12,132 steps.
When I got back home Ken, MJ and I had breakfast and then we headed out to an auction.  This was only the second auction MJ had been to and seemed to enjoy it. : )  Ken bid on two picnic tables and got both of them.  A 6 foot one and an eight foot one.  Some men at the auction helped Ken load them in the truck so I didn't have to.  These are well made and are HEAVY.  We put one one the deck here at the house.
8 Feet
The other one we put up at Happy Trails.
Mary Jo left to go home at 12:30 when her family came to pick her up.  They had a 3 hour ride ahead of them to get back home.
I am so very happy that MJ came for a visit and that she got to stay a few days.  We had such a good time and I will really miss her.  After she left I shed a few tears.  I know that is silly because I'll be seeing her again but I was just a little sad that our visit came to an end.
After she left we went up to HT and walked around a bit.  Then when we got back home, I mowed the lawn again.
So now things seem quiet here at home with MJ gone.
In a little while we will have our ice cream.  I'll be having more of the whoppie pie flavor.
This weekend seemed to zoom by much too fast but what a good one it was!!
Hope all is well in your part of the world and your day was happy and bright.
Anonymous - Yes, we have two children - adults now, and they each have two children which makes us grandparents 4 times over.  And also thanks for reading . : )
And Thanks to everyone who leaves comments.  : )
It sounds like a lovely week-end, particularly since you were able to have a visit from Mary Jo. It takes awhile to build new friendships, and it is easy to tell that MJ is a very special friend.
What a nice weekend. It is kind of sad when a really nice visit comes to an end, but there are always more fun things to look forward to! Glad you all had such a nice time. Those are very nice picnic tables. They will sure come in handy. The auction sounds fun. Have a good week.
A wonderful weekend for you! I have a feeling that you'll have some more fun weekends with Mary Jo. We really like the name MJ because one of John's greats has that name.
I didn't realize I had missed so many of your recent posts. I'm now caught up and glad to hear that you had such a nice visit with MJ. How neat that you all went to her ex-husband's for a party and had so much fun.
Your new picnic tables looks so sturdy and nice.
Sounds like a great weekend for you. Not silly at all when feeling sad as a friend leaves, but you can look forward to your next visit.
The weekend passed to quickly, and I woke up super early this morning. I guess I am thinking about returning to work.
