Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Dad

Quite a bit of fog around and 55 degrees this morning.  You can see the sun trying to shine through there in the picture and it finally did but the fog wasn't completely gone until after I was back home.

I saw the Evalena again walking the loop and we stopped to talk a bit.

Walking around one of the cemeteries I saw two Red Tailed Hawks sitting on the top of a gravestone.  One bigger than the other.  I took out my camera to take a picture but when I turned it on the noise scared them and they flew away.

I walked 6.3 miles and the steps were 12,380.

Last evening after supper the doorbell rang.  It was one of our neighbors coming to welcome us to town with a baked pumpkin roll.  Her name is Evajean and she stayed for a while and we had a nice chat.  I liked her right away. I walked her out the door and on the porch she told me that she is usually very shy but that she was glad she came by to meet us.  She certainly didn't seem shy to me.  She talked up a storm. : )

I've been around home today doing a little cleaning and this and that.  Nothing special just enjoying my day.

Today, August 20 is my Dad's birthday.   He died back in 1999 and today he would have been 92.  He was the best dad ever and just wanted take a moment to say that.  I know he is in heaven now and someday I'll get to see him again. : )
I've posted this picture of him before, but it is one of my favorites.

  1. What a GREAT picture of your Dad!!
I am normally a shy person too -- but when I find myself in a situation like visiting someone I don't know - I normally talk up a storm too.... kind of defense mechanism on the shyness I think :)

  4. Your neighbour sounds like a lovely person! I really love this photo of your father. My father died in 1984 when I was 27, so I can relate to this. I am sure your father was very proud of you. I love your header photo!

  5. How nice of your neighbor to stop by with a home baked treat. I thought it was interesting that the two ladies you have met both have names that begin with Eva.
Happy Birthday to your Dad in heaven. That is a great picture of him by the water. He appears to be very fit which makes me wonder if he also enjoyed walking.

  6. I love that photo of your dad. I like the way you honor him each year on his birthday.

Some shy people have been saving a lot of words. : D

Can you set your camera not to make a noise? I have missed so many great shots because of the chirp the camera makes.

  12. That is a great photo of your dad. It is good to remember our departed loved ones. My dad has been gone since 1983 and my mom since 1992 and I think of them often. I think of my sister every day.
