Started raining during the night and it was still raining when I woke up in the morning. Didn't bring any rain clothes for walking so I didn't go for a morning walk. We ate breakfast and I made the bed and straightened things up. There is not much to do in the trailer on a rainy day and we couldn't work on the upper shed so we decided to take a drive out to Morgantown, WV and checked things out there. It has a mall and most all the usual chain restaurants. Also found a Michaels and BooksAMillion.
It stopped raining and the sun came out and dried things up enough that we could finish the last two trusses which were the ends and painted them. Here is one of them.
Yesterday on my photo blog I posted a picture of a bird nest which was sitting on the tire of our tractor. Today when I looked there was a pretty large blue egg in it. So now Ken can't use his tractor for a while. I saw the bird but don't know what kind it is. It is pretty big and kind of looks like a BIG robin but has orange on its back too. I'll have to get a better look at it and maybe I'll be able to get a picture.
We will be going to Lowe's in a little while for more lumber. We will get started on the walls of the shed tomorrow.
Not much time for posting so off I go.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Now and then a rainy day can be fun and restful. Sounds like maybe a rufous sided towhee? Just a wild guess. And I am wondering if the black bird with red that you described could be a redstart? Going way back (like seriously way back) to ornithology class here....
Too bad that the rainy day kept you from your walk, but it sounds like you had a good day just the same. It can be fun exploring different towns. My husband and I have enjoyed checking out smaller towns all around us, usually finding a small diner-type spot to eat lunch.
Enjoy your evening.
Well---if we ever visit you all there, please take us to Uno's.... ha
Glad the sun came out.. We didn't get any rain at all today--although it was predicted.
Hugs,
Betsy
Oh you two have such tender hearts! Hope that you find out who your little mother is.
The first commenter may be right - it may have been a redstart. Kind of sounds like what you described.
That looks like a big nest. I'll be curious to see what kind of bird laid the egg. So good of you and Ken to let it remain on the tractor until it's hatched.
I love that picture of the nest with the egg in it. I am a wee bit jealous of your rain since we are already over 100 every day here - sunny, hot and dry. I would love some rain just now! That is so great that you got a full price offer on your townhouse! I knew it would sell quickly! Enjoy your weekend.
