Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Home and dry

It rained during the night and when I got up and looked out of the window it looked wet out but I didn't see any rain coming down.  It was 37 degrees and I dressed in one less layer and headed out the door.  After walking a couple of blocks a light drizzle started so I went back home and got my umbrella and then started over.  I walked the connect the trail path with the trail but went in the opposite direction than I normally do.

I only saw one runner and one dog walker and both were along the street.  I didn't see anyone along the paths or trail.

I saw something walking along the path up ahead of me and at first thought it was a dog, but then I thought it was the fox.  I slowed down, got out my camera and that is when he noticed I was there and ran into the woods.  It was then that I realized that the foxes I see are red and this was gray.  I wonder if it wasn't a fox at all but a coyote.  They are around here, I've just never seen one.

My feet got wet today, not from the lake this time but from the rain.  I should have had my rain pants on because I was a bit damp by the time I got home, but at least my head stayed dried.  I was warm from walking so being damp didn't make me cold.

On the way home walking through the Giant parking lot I found a penny.
I took 13,534 steps on my walk.

Ken felt a lot better today and went back to work.  Not many days left of work for him - only 11 after today.

It's been a rainy day and I didn't feel like going out again after drying out from my walk so I didn't go to my knitting group this morning.
Instead I stayed home and got the rest of the upstairs cleaned and then got to work on the old boxes.  I put the polyethylene on all four of them and now waiting for them to dry.
Tomorrow I'll be able to finish getting the loft arranged the way I want it.

My friend Mary Jo knows I like to read and gave me the cutest bookmarks to use.  They are calendar bookmarks and there are 12, one for each month.  This is the January one I'm using this month.  Thank you Mary Jo. : )

Hope your day is better than you expected it to be.

Debbie - No, I'm not on Facebook - was for a little while but it is just not for me.  Just don't like it.
Yes, I do like Downton Abbey very much.  I've watched it from the beginning.

Kim - I use a few different things cleaning my shower.  I spray a mixture of vinegar and water on everything and let it sit for about 10 minutes.  Then on the door I spray Tilex and wipe them down a with a scrubber.  I dry them off with a car cloth that I use on my car.
On the tiles I spray Scrub Free and then wipe them down with a scrubber and not every time I clean them but once a month or so I scrub the grout with a toothbrush.

Anonymous - Good for you for doing that each time you shower and though that sounds like a great idea, I just can't see me doing that every time.  I clean mine once a week.

Hi, I wandered off your blog to check up on 'Clatterford' as the name didn't ring a bell and when I came back you had put up another post! In the UK 'Clatterford' was called Jam and Jerusalem because those are the 2 things the WI are known for though they do lots of other things besides make jam and sing Jerusalem the Golden. I was a member of our local WI for many years and it was a great way to spend an evening meeting friends, having a talk on an interesting subject and entering the evening's competition and tasting the homemade refreshments. I only stopped when I was teaching full-time and found that all my free time was taken up with school work. Obviously there wasn't the drama of the series but it was a very interesting bunch of women. At the big joint group meetings you would hear apologies being read out from members who were trekking in Nepal, on an origami visit to Japan or volunteering in Africa.
Oh and a big dog fox ran across the road in front of me tonight as I drove home but I don't get to see half the wildlife you do.

Funny...I'm doing a bookmark post on Thursday. ☺ Great minds and all that.

I, too, wandered off looking for Clatterford and found Jam and Jerusalem...the UK version. I also found out that Dawn French (the Vicar of Dibley) has lost a lot of weight. She may become my new hero.

Foxes and coyotes really do look similar from a distance. I wonder which one it was.

Cute bookmark. For some reason, I tend to leave bookmarks in books after I finish reading them, so then I can't find a bookmark for my new book! Can be frustrating. The other day I found a bookmark my daughter had sent me from China in the back of a book I had read and I was so excited because I thought it was lost for good. Now if I could just remember what book I found (then left) it in!! Enjoy the rest of your day!

I understand you're not wanting to go out again, in the rain... After drying off... :-)

Such cute book marks.

Glad Ken felt better. Wow, only 11 days left. Hope he is excited, to be making this change.

Seen a few coyotes around my place, they look similar and are a bit more daring then foxes, foxes won't even let you get close.

Glad to hear that Ken is feeling better.
What a pretty and thoughtful gift the bookmarks are and how nice it will be to have a new one each month.
Thanks for answering my shower question. I spray the vinegar water mixture after each shower. Now I'm going to try the rest of your suggestions.
