Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A trip to the library

A chilly morning walk today - 27 degrees - but no wind and the sun was out.  I slept in a little and didn't get up till 6:30. : )
I walked straight down the road and then turned right and walked down to the little wet land pond.  This is the path that leads to the pond.
And here's the pond that I walked around and then walked back home.
I saw more people around this little pond than I've been seeing walking around the lake!!  There were no geese or ducks here at all which was surprising.
I saw three deer - all of them in back yards.
It was a good walk - the air crisp and fresh.  I walked around the neighborhood a little before coming inside and ended up walking 7.2 miles!!
I found a dime too. : )
Sunrise 6:54
Sunset 4:51
I smelled what I think was French toast that a neighbor was making for breakfast and it smelled so good I decided to make some myself but then realized I couldn't because I didn't have any bread.  So I got a loaf started in the bread machine and made pancakes instead.

I went up into my loft and got some of the weave-it squares sewn together on the baby blanket I'm making.  I like that I can spread it all out on the floor and leave it there until I can find some time to work on it again.

I've been going to the library on my own during the week so Ken hasn't been for a while so we went there this afternoon.  I was just going to look at some magazines and not get anything out.  BUT.......  Look what I came home with!!! : )
I think I'm going to go and read for a while now.

It's a pretty sunshiny day - hope yours is too.
I'm the walkingest girl around.
I like to work at it -
really get my heart pounding.

Vee - I think blessings, being thankful and happy are all rolled up into one.  You can't be counting blessings, being thankful and NOT be happy. : )

Nellie - yes, there were enchilada leftovers - enough for a lunch for me and two for Ken to take to work.

Debbie - You will love the Striiv - Check it out HERE.

Kerri - I didn't like the last few of the alphabet books by Sue Grafton as much either and this one is like that so far too.

  1. Ah, French Toast or Pancakes - either one sounds really yummy!!
I was able to get out for several hours today too....it's been a beautiful day here :)
Glad Ken got to go to the Library with you ;)

  2. I love Debbie Macomber books. I think I have read almost all of them.

You have such a beautiful path for your walk.

  3. I love wetland ponds, they are rather rare in California, and such a boon to wildlife. Now after your walk you can settle in to read one of these books.

  4. What a great day you have had! It would be difficult for me to leave the library without an armload of books.:) I seem to be the same way about a book store, too.:)

    Enjoy your evening!

  5. I love finding fun new books to read! I went to half-price day at Goodwill this afternoon and came home with a Joyce Meyer book I didn't have! I think I will have to read some Debbie Macomber books...I know that many people like them! I told my husband about the Striiv,,,(I hope I get one for Christmas!)

  6. Hi Girlie, 7.2 miles? Wow---I am proud of you!!!! I'd eat Pancakes also ---if I walked THAT far! ha....

We worked in the yard today --getting the last of all of the tons of leaves up!!! About 99.9% of all of the leaves are down---so the work is almost done!!!!!

  7. Bet I never told you how much I love your Header pic! Well, now I have. :-)

-gigggles- All the books you came home with! Awwwww, but we can never have too many books, waiting for us. :-)))))))))))

I am whipping through my pile, and not posting much about them. I'm lagging behind on that.

Oh and the couch, which can be seen a bit, behind the books on your table.... It looks so pretty! Please, a photo of this couch? Please? :-)

  8. Ugh! a frosty looking morning then home to pancakes - sounds like a good start to the day. Great photo of the pond.
