Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

The upper roof is finished!!!!

We are back home once again.  Here are the pictures of the gravestones that I was telling you about yesterday.
This is the oldest one I could find that I could read clearly.  Didn't it hold up good after all this time!?
Here are two more that you can read pretty good.  I found it interesting that they wrote the year, month, and days of their ages when they died.

Walking through town yesterday I snapped a picture of this old house that needs some tender loving care.  I bet it would look so nice!!  It is right on the main road through town.  Maybe I need a home in town too!? : )  Only kidding!!
It wasn't raining when I woke up at 6:30 this morning so I headed out down the hill on my walk into town.  I hadn't gone very far when it started raining.  I thought it might just be a shower and walked back and forth a couple of times on a road which had a canopy of trees which kept me kind of dry.  Then that didn't help, and the rain came down through the trees and I gave Ken a call and he came to get me.  On the way home the rain stopped so he dropped me off and I headed back to town.  Nearing town the rain came down once again and by this time I was soaked.  I didn't want to call Ken yet again so just kept walking when I hear a toot of the horn - He came to rescue me. : )

We were decided to pack up and go home when the rain stopped and it got brighter out.  So before the rain could come again, Ken went out to work on the shingles again and this time he was able to complete the job.  Oh happy days.  I'm so glad that he is done with that and won't have to go up so high anymore.  It never did rain anymore the rest of the day.
Here is Ken putting the final touch on the roof - the weather vane.
I was down below doing a little dance of happiness.  I waked up the hill to get this view of the building and here comes Ken walking up to join me.
Ken has also given us a street light and put the old bell that he got at an auction a while back up on top.  : )
We saw an interesting flying something that landed on our street light post and stayed there quite a while.I've posted a picture of it on my photo blog.  If I've made you curious click HERE to take a look.

So all in all in it was a productive weekend after all.
We left mid afternoon to come back home.  Traffic was pretty light and we had no rain at all.

It's nice to be back home but look forward to spending time up there again too.  We really do have the best of both worlds.

Hope your Saturday was a good one.

  1. Looks like a luna moth to me. Beautiful things.

Yay for the roof being done. It looks sharp, too, and I really like the weather vane and the bell and the light. Things are looking up.

Well, when Ken retires you might want to be further out in the country. Who knows? Prolly could get that fixer-upper for a song and it has lots of potential, too. Yes, and I am only teasing as well. ;>

  2. Oh, it really looks great!! You guys sure have done a lot of work this summer and it sure had paid off!

  3. The roof looks great. Ken has done a great job.

I visited your photo blog. Very nice!!

  4. I agree with Vee, it looks like a luna moth. Beautiful close-up you got of it.
I can see why you did a happy dance when Ken finished the roof. It always makes me nervous to see people working at those heights.
    Enjoy your Sunday.

  5. The weather vane looks perfect on the finished roof - the building is looking amazing. I love the town house with a lot of TLC it will make some family a lovely home.
