Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Today instead of tomorrow

A cool 62 degrees this morning and it was delightful walking weather.  I headed out around the lake.
On the way to the lake this tall weed caught my attention.  I might be crazy but to me it looks like a giant Praying Mantis!
Stopped to talk a couple of times with walking friends who I haven't seen for a while.  I can't believe how many people I've met on my morning walks!
Spotted a few red winged blackbirds, and gray cat birds.  As I passed by a little drainage pool I heard a bull frog.  Stopped to look for him but couldn't find him.

I was coming around the lake and was near the parking lot when I saw four women standing at the edge of the path.  All four were in a debate about which way they should go around the lake.  I felt like saying, "Just pick a way and go, both ways are good."  I said good morning but they didn't hear me and kept debating and I passed by them.  About a quarter mile later I hear them coming up behind me.  They were runners and finally decided to go the way I was going.  There they go. : )
Today I took 12,662 steps on my walk.

Sunset 8:34

Did some more laundry and then got things together and packed up for taking up to our land.  Filled up the water jugs to take along and put all my stuff in the truck.  Last night we decided instead of waiting for Friday morning to leave we would leave right after Ken gets home from work today.  This way we can get up early tomorrow and can get an early start on work.  Also I won't have to miss my morning walk.  I'll just walk up there. : )

I still have a few things to do so I'll go along and get those things done now.

Hope you found bits of happiness scattered throughout your day.

Good call! The weed does look like a giant praying mantis.

Have fun on your land and be safe.

Have a wonderful weekend at your 'land'.... When George and I first bought this home (2002), we were living about 2.5 hours west of here, both working fulltime and decided we'd just come up here on the weekends...

WELL---we found that we wanted to be here more and more... SO---I retired in June of 2003 and we moved here permanently in July of that year.. George continued to work until 2006 --but we both loved being up here all of the time...

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

I love hearing about your daily walks. I wish it was cool enough to walk here. My husband actually gets up at 4 a.m. and walks four miles before the heat gets unbearable. I think the weed looks like a praying mantis as well. Enjoy your weekend.

Hmmm... I smiled the entire way through this post. That must mean something! So I can think of you busy at work at the land. You'll have to come up with a cottagey name for that place or something.

Good to make your way to the land during the evening to give you a full working day on the Fri. Enjoy your trip and walk around the area.
