Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A little work on the roof

Went for a walk this morning and walked into town again.  I have a nice little route that I've mapped out.  I go down the hill to the main road and into town.  We've seen a deer and her two young babies a couple of times on our land and today while walking down the main road I saw them in the woods.  They are hard to see but if you look close you can see the two babies in amongst the trees.
I walked down the main street in town and walked around a couple of blocks and passed by the fire department.
Not long after that I came back to the little pond where Ken picked me up the other day.  Today I walked up passed the pond through a corn field and just at the end of this road there is yet another cemetery.  That makes four of them just in this little town!
I walked around the circle in there and then walked back down to the pond where Ken once again picked me up.

I saw one runner and two woman who looked like a mother and daughter walking.  As we passed by I said, "Good Morning fellow walkers."  They smiled and said good morning back.

It was 70 degrees and already pretty warm this morning.  The sky was cloudy at first but the sun came out for the rest of the day.

Ken as been working a bit more on the roof of the tractor barn.  The second side of the roof is now 2/3 done.  Only another third to go.  It is slow going but little by little it is getting done.  It sure is high up there.  I have been climbing up the ladder inside the building and handing him the shingles two at a time.  The roof seems so much higher from up there than down below and Ken says it seems even higher out on the roof!!
I've sat part of the day out on the deck.  I did a little knitting and reading.  I get up and walk around every so often to get more steps in so I can build more of my island. : )

The other day Ron, our neighbor stopped by and invited us up to his place to pick blueberries.  Ken didn't want to go but I walked up there yesterday and picked some.  From our place to his is 1/2 mile. Ron was so nice and brought out a jug of ice water for me while I was picking because it was pretty hot.  His dog Patches kept me company for a while.  I stayed a little more than an hour picking the blueberries which were delicious on our cereal the last couple of days.
I've been up to Ron's place a couple of times and his been down to our place quite a few times and we have yet to meet his wife.  The two times I've been there he says she is just getting out of the shower.  I'm beginning to wonder if there really is a wife! : )

All day we looked forward to going to Brenda's for pizza.  I think that just may be my favorite pizza place anywhere.
Afterwards we walked around Walmart and now here we are again in MacDonald's parking lot.

It's been great being away this week but right about now I'm looking forward to getting back to the house tomorrow.

Hope your Friday was a good one.

So good to hear from you. I'm glad it's a little cooler where you are. Or, I should say, less warm.

Time to come home to your other life!

Now if you had internet connection, I think you'd be all set in the country, right? Maybe not. Maybe you'd still be eager to get home.

It sounds as though you are making good progress there. We have blueberries and enjoy them as they are, or in a blueberry pie or muffins.
