Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My Tuesday

More of the same rainy weather this morning like yesterday so off I went with my umbrella again and this time I walked around the lake.
I didn't see anyone around the first part of the lake but the second half I was surprised to see as many people as I did.  There was one fisherman at the waters edge and another one in a boat.
I watched the heron fly low over the water across the lake.  I saw the geese family again too.  The six little ones are getting pretty big and today I saw three tiny ones mixed in with the six others.  I wonder if they are adopted.  I don't think she could have laid three more eggs already!!!
Some of the birds I saw were blue birds, cardinals, gray cat birds, red winged blackbirds, and robins.
On one side of the lake I saw this box turtle crossing the path.
And on the other side I saw this painted turtle crossing the path.
They just wouldn't pop their heads out of their shells for a better picture!!  I told them they would be on my blog but that didn't seem to impress them.
I enjoyed my walk in the rain. : )
I walked 6 miles.
********************
Left a little after 9:30 this morning and went over to the mill for a morning of knitting with my knitting group of friends.  There were 17 of us there today.  Lots of talk, laughing and we even got a little knitting done! : )  I made a few weave-it squares and sewed some of them together.  For some reason I enjoyed the morning more than usual.

Talking on the phone while driving around here is against the law but you would never know it when you go out driving.  It is so annoying driving near people who are in a world of their own and don't know what is going on around them!!!  I am really surprised that there aren't more accidents caused by these people.  I would love to be a cop for a day and give all the people who are talking on the phone while driving tickets.  It would make my day.  There, that's my rant for the day!!

When I got home I had some lunch and then finished sewing the rest of the weave-it squares I had made together in a row and then onto the part of the blanket already done. Tonight I'll make some more.

Now I'll spend some time here on the computer and then I'll read for a bit before making supper.  Tonight we are having meat loaf and baked potatoes and cauliflower.  When my daughter Debbi was little she would call that a meal.  A meal to her was when you had meat, potato and a vegetable.  Every time I eat a meal like that I think of her! : )

So that's been my day.
A happy day to you.

The turtle is so cute. You see the most fun things on your walk. I enjoy walking along with you.

Now that sounds like a 'meal' to me too.

Glad you had such fun at the knitting group.
I agree with you about the cell phones and driving issue. There are many people who think they can drive well and talk on the cell, but they really can't.
Loved your turtle pictures today. The box turtle looks just like the other box turtle you photographed a couple of weeks ago.
Stay happy!

The turtles are so pretty. Your knitting group sounds like a lot of fun. I like the menu for your supper tonight.

How fun to see not one, but two turtles. I laughed when I read about you telling them they could be on your blog :).
We've been seeing a lot of herons fly overhead.
I agree with your rant today. Very annoying!

I'm failing on a few of those requisites there. Namely, I'd like to kick my neighbor's keister. ;>

Your morning walk sounds pleasant as always with the heron flying low over the water and the bashful turtle blog stars.

You have a great route to walk. You are lucky to have box turtles still in your area.

I once got an $85 ticket for pulling over along side the road to make a phone call! The whole rest of the trip, people speeded by me going 80 mph and chatting away on their phones. No tickets for them!

Happy trails! Art

Meatloaf and cauliflower - two of our all-time favorites!
It looks as though you have some nice level spaces for walking. How fortunate that you have a lake for walking near.
