Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A foggy morning

Another one of those foggy misty mornings.  It was warm again with a temperature of 58 degrees.  I still wore my hood up on my sweatshirt to keep my hair from frizzing up too much so I was pretty warm by the time I got home.
I walked my connect the path route and only met one other person on the paths.
Four deer ran across the path in front of me and it was nice to hear all the birds chirping and calling out to each other.  Heard a couple of woodpeckers too but couldn't see where they were.
It looks like a new pipe is planned for this spot here.  Rocks just won't be enough to hold back the water coming over the path and washing it out.
I found three pennies this morning but they were sticky with candy stuck on them.  So I picked them up with a tissue and washed them when I got home.  Then put them in my bank. Boy, what I don't do for three cents!! : )
I walked 6.5 miles.

A couple people asked about my walking shoes and what I recommend.
New Balance are the shoes I like best.  I wear a wide width.  The last time when I bought shoes I couldn't find a woman's wide so I got a pair of boys shoes.  They are made wider and were cheaper than woman's shoes.
A shoe has to feel comfortable as soon as I put it on.  No breaking it in time.  It won't happen.  If it isn't comfortable right from the beginning walking 6 miles in them will NOT make my feet feel good!  I also like them to feel very light.
When buying shoes I always wear the socks I will be walking in.  I wear a cotton blend, not too thick and not too thin.  I guess that's it really.  Your shoes just have to feel right for you.

I'm just at home today.  Nothing planned.   Some chores, being on the computer, reading and just whatever I come across to do.

Fill your Thursday with happy thoughts and deeds.

Looks like you had a nice walk this morning. We have had some fabulous weather lately--but the rains are coming back. But--it's been nice working in the yard this week.

Shoes do make a difference for sure. I wear wide width also in tennis shoes, but not in my SAS shoes..

Hugs,
Betsy

Good advice on the shoes and socks!

I have yet to find a pair of socks I really, really love. My son was visiting the other day. He took his shoes off at the door...no need other than his wish to do so... Anyway, I was able to see that his socks needed darning or tossing. He said, "No way! These are my favorite wool socks and I won't wear any others." I was very surprised that he wears wool socks (the expensive $20 plus a pair kind) all year round. He may be getting socks for his birthday in addition to that journal.

You spent three cents on dishwashing liquid and water not to mention the tissue to clean up those pennies. =D

Sounds like a nice day to me.
I wasn't blessed with the greatest feet and select all of my shoes for comfort these days. I noticed that my foot doctor wears New Balance too.

The blossom looks lovely. I like my feet to be comfy and tend to buy mores sensible shoes these days as I have a broad foot. In the past I have been known to buy fashion shoes which have been far from comfortable!

Thank you for your walking shoe info!

I really enjoy fogging mornings, so quiet.

I use New Balance walkers, and enjoy them too. Thanks for the tip on wearing the right socks when buying.
Enjoy your weekend.

We've seemed to have had several mornings this week that were very foggy. Hope you don't have any problems breaking in your new walking shoes. As much as you walk, it's important to have a good fit, you're right. This is the best time of year to walk, not to cold and not too warm.
