Not many people out but enough to know I wasn't the only person out there walking. Stopped for a chat with Petey and John.
I smiled a couple of days ago when I read Vee and Auntie talking about 'word pictures' and thought I'd try writing one.
This morning I walked along a paved winding path through the woods.
Tall leafless trees stretch high in the air on either side of me.
The path has bits of moss on it here and there.
The forest ground is covered in brown dead leaves,
but little bits of green are starting to pop through the leaves.
To my right through the trees I catch a glimpse of a house.
To my left is a stream that meanders along side the path.
Up ahead is a wooden footbridge.
I look up and through the trees I see
blue sky shining through the branches of the trees.
All around me I hear birds chirping good morning to each other,
a woodpecker drumming a little tune on an old dead tree,
and the crows off in the distance cawing a warning.
As the water in the stream flows over rocks it makes its own music.
All is peaceful and calm.
I walked 6.7 miles.

We had a great time last night at Ram's Head On Stage. The concert was much better than I expected!! I liked Gary Pucket and the Union Gap a lot when I was a kid and had quite a few of their records. Some songs you might remember are,
Women
Young Girl
Over You
Lady Willpower
One nice touch was when he asked all the Veterans to stand and thanked them and then sang HOME and dedicated it to them. I was proud that Ken was standing!

Went out this morning to do a few errands around town. One was a stop at the post office to mail a few oversized envelopes to some of you! : )
Remember those herbs I was growing that I got for Christmas? Here's an update on them. The dill and basil are doing fine. I had no luck at all with the chives. Nothing happened so less than week ago I put some cilantro seeds in the third pot and they have already sprouted.
That's it for today.
Till next time.....
A smile from me to you.

Your word picture is as good as your camera pictures. Very well done.
Great word picture! I love it!! Now what did the air feel like against your cheek and how did it smell?
Oh I'll be keeping my eye out for a package. Always fun!
See, I got so excited about the word picture, I forgot to comment on the rest. What a moment at the concert! What a thrill!
A plant out of place? My Easter cactus qualifies!
WOW! I LOVE your word picture! I need to try this!!
lovely word picture! and you remembered all that? i'm afraid i'd have to talk in to a recorder, while i was out there. and transcribe what i recorded... not sure i could remember all those details.
and though vee is always sweet, about my being able to paint word pics, i really can't. people like gladys taber can do it. not i.
but if i don't get back on line on my own computer (old or new) pretty soon, i'm going to have to learn word picturing. I CAN'T put any pics, on his lap top!!!!!! eeeek! -grin-
we are getting so tired of waiting for the geek to arrived, that we're ready to just go out and get me a new iMac. -grrrrrrrrr-
oh my gosh but they are beeeeeeeeeautiful!!!!! He left one up on his laptop, so i'd find the pic of it, and they are delicious!!! -grin-
glad the concert was fun too!!!!!
Wonderful word picture. You have the heart of a poet.
you are a writer too
lovely images
oh and I am glad they recognized the servicemen and women
Great job on the word picture. I could picture it all as I read. Lovely.
I thought of you when I turned my car radio on this morning and Gary Puckett was singing to me. I always smile at these little blog connections we make.
Very nice to have the servicemen recognized at the concert. I always get teary eyed when that happens.
I hope your herbs continue to do well. I never have luck with starting seeds indoors. I get them that far and then they all croak.
Enjoy your weekend.
Great word picture, Karen!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed your evening last night. That was neat that the veterans were asked to stand...
Your herbs are doing great. Wonder what happened to the chives. One time we planted a bunch of Lily of the Valley in the yard and NOT ONE of them EVER came up!!!?????
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
I dated a guy who was really into Gary Pucket and the Union Gaps! Memories!
And your herbs look great!
And yes, I would love company!
You have a real talent for writing word pictures - I really enjoyed reading it you must write more. Your concert sounds a real success and its so good for veterans to be appreciated I can imagine the feeling of pride you held for your husband.
