Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Morning Walk - a new friend

The temperature was 47 degrees and it had just stopped drizzling when I started walking this morning.  It quickly cleared up and the weather was just about perfect for walking.  I headed out over to the lake.  Not a lot of people around but enough to say good morning a few times.

I saw some kind of a hawk fly from one tree to another.  I've seen it before but haven't been able to identify it.

At one point walking on the path a woman came from another path that joined mine just a few paces in front me.  We walked at the exact same pace for a while with me just behind her.  I finally said, "We seem to be walking at the exact same pace!"  I ran up the few steps and caught up to her and we laughed.  I then said, "Do you mind if I walk along with you for a bit?"  She said, "No, that would be great."  and we talked non stop till I had to turn off! : )  She asked me all the usual walking questions which I answered and then she told me she just started walking this month.  It was nice walking with her so I passed up the path I usually take to go home and walked another quarter of the way around the lake and took this path just after the red footbridge to another entrance to the park.
She lives just a couple of blocks from me over on the other side of the Giant.  She drove to the lake though so we couldn't walk the same path towards home together. She seemed to really like walking and I think I'll see her here again.  She asked me my age and then said she thought I was 45 or 50!!  This is a nice lady!! : )
Meeting nice people is just another benefit of walking and I don't mean just because she thought I was younger than I am! : )

Today I walked 8 miles.
Sunrise 7:15
Sunset 5:28
I usually write about my walk when I get home, save it, and then just write more later in the day and publish it then.  Trying something different for a change - will publish my walking post in the morning and will write and publish again tonight.

Have a great day.

That does sound like a nice lady and I'm sure you have inspired her to continue walking.
Enjoy whatever the day brings.

Walking is good for your health, and obviously for your appearance.

I can vouch for your appearance. You look about 45. Say, do I get any points for that?

Would you believe that I am making yet another loaf of bread? This time in the bread machine because I think I found a good recipe right in the bread machine booklet? Unbelievable! We'll see.

I always enjoy walking/hiking with another person. Fortunately Betsy enjoys both as much as I do.

What a great start to a day having such a nice compliment paid to you. Reading your blog certainly inspired me to start walking more and I am really enjoying the exercise tho I am a still only a dry weather walker.
