Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Footprints

The temperature was more winter like this morning at 29 degrees.  It was still, no wind and the sun came up which made it a nice morning for walking.  No particular route today, just walked here and there down some paths
and along some roads on sidewalks.
I saw a woman whose name I don't know walking her puppy Beau who has gotten quite a bit bigger now.  He is a Golden Retriever and I first met him when he was just 8 weeks old.  He must be about 3 months now and is the cutest thing.  I want to take him home with me.  I'll have to ask if I can take his picture next time.
Two others were walking dogs and there was a bike rider too.  I saw a dog walking all alone up the path, which I very rarely see.  People around here take the leash law seriously and also are really good about picking up after their dogs, at least the people I see.
I walked off one of the main paths into the woods a bit along one of the deer trails.  It wasn't very long before it dead ended at a little stream.  I turned around and came back the same way and as I was just getting back on the path there were two deer walking along the paved path.  We switched places and continued walking!
I walked 6.7 miles.

I went out this morning and did a couple of errands.  When I got back home I realized I had forgotten to eat breakfast so I had some Cocoa Krispies at 11:30 for a late breakfast.

There are always a few chores to do around the house but instead of doing them I worked on the cross stitch.  I worked on it until I got hungry and had a PB&J sandwich  lunch at 2:00.  Just a little left on the cross stitch so I worked on it until it was finished! : )
Only thing left to do is frame it.
I like keeping the back as neat as I can.  I don't know why because it doesn't really matter but that's just the way I am.

We were going to go out for pizza for supper yesterday but Ken ended up working late so we decided not to go and just ate at home.  So it will be pizza tonight for supper.  I've been looking forward to it all day.

Now I really must go and get a few things done before Ken gets home from work.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.
A smile from me to you.

Love that quote!!!! Ohyes, let's not try to be perfect. Let's try to just be ourselves. :-)

That cross stitch turned out really nice and the back proves that you are good at it!

Hope that we get to see Beau and what's her name... Ha.

Wonderful quote.

I think that the sun sets earlier here because it's not 5:30 yet and it's long gone. In fact I was driving home into the setting sun and wishing that I had my camera. I might've had to pull over and take a picture.

My mom was a great cross stitcher. When she was teaching me, she always said that the back of the piece should look as nice as the front. That is how I learned. The back of your work is very nice.

Beautiful job on your cross stitch (front & back). I try to keep the back neat too. I am curious to know how you go about your backstitching for the lettering. What I mean is do you use a knot or just leave a little tail? With the regular stitching I stitch over the tail, but with the backstitching that is away from regular stitches I'm never sure what is the right way to start and stop. I don't know if I am making a bit of sense, but I was just wondering how others do it.
Have a great weekend.

I like the words on your cross stitch and all credit to you for taking such a pride in your work - it looks lovely. Your first picture is beautiful - the eternal lane.
