Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

I left an hour later this morning for my walk.  It was 25 degrees and i wanted to wait until it was light so i could see where the ice was.  I walked around the lake.  I'm just getting to the lake here when i took the picture.  The lake is to the right and i will be turning right here instead of going straight.
The sun was out but then a few clouds came along so it was cloudy most of my walk.  No wind though and it was really nice walking weather.  It doesn't happened often when i'm walking but sometimes my toes get cold and today they were.  I started running for a little bit which made me warm and my toes warmed up.  Then i was back to walking.  By the time i got home the temperature was already up to 32.
Just a few people about the lake.  I thought there would be more because it was later but i must have been in between the early and the late people.
There were two male goldfinches sitting in the trees and i saw a few cardinals hopping along the ground.  Of course they all flew away when i tried to take pictures.
Three lucky pennies this morning - all in the Giant parking lot.
I walked 6.3 miles.

I didn't know it was supposed to snow today but as i look out of the window now the snow is really coming down.  So far it isn't sticking and i don't think much if any of it will.

Just puttering around the house today.  I've picked up some of the Christmas decorations and put them away.  I still have the tree up though and will take that down Monday.
I have finally finished sewing all the weave-it squares together and have turned it into an afghan.  If you would like a chance to win this by donating to the American Cancer Society, check back here next week for the details.

We are meeting friends this evening at one of the pizza places we frequent.  Haven't seen them for quite a while and it will be nice to catch up with them.

Enjoy this day and make a happy memory.

  1. Your afghan is so colorful. It reminds me of the primitive quilts of the pioneers. You will have to post the total miles that you walked this year. I am so impressed by your routine.

  2. Oh my ..... it is stunning! A work of ART!! I LOVE it!

  3. The afghan turned out so well! I had to take a closer look. It's the putting together of such things that intimidates me. How do you find that part of the project? A challenge? Not so bad?

Have fun out with your friends. Last Friday evening (I know that this is Thursday...I may have been in my nighty all day, but I'm still semi-coherent) John and I called friends on the spur of the moment to see if they were available for supper out. Wonder of wonders they were and we had such a nice time visiting. We have never done that before and really should more often.

  4. Wonderful blanket! It always amazes me how many of these you have made. I am still working my way through my first one.

  5. I have a "thing" for quilts, and that one is lovely.

    Greetings from Minneapolis!

  6. You got some snow on Wed. and we got some, overnight into Thurs. I was soooooooooo excited to see it falling! It's getting so rare.

'Twas very cold on Wed. here and we didn't walk as long. My ears were getting cold, even with a hat/scarf on. But the important part was -- We walked! 3 days in a row! I said you would be so proud of me. ,-)))))

Not much of a record, I know, but for us, beginning again, it is SOMETHING. :-) And every bit helps. I'm so *into* keeping a stretch going, in order to start a true habit. :-)

    Lovely quilt!!!!!! Lots of work!!!!

    Hope your pizza-with-friends was nice.

  7. I can attest to how wonderful the quilt is. I love mine :-)
