Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A hot sunny

morning as I made my way around the lake on my walk today.  A lot of other people were doing the same thing.

On the path to the lake I looked down at the stream and on the little island in the middle of it, a heron was standing there.  When he saw me he flew off in the direction of the lake.  They are so graceful in the air!
A little chipmunk was sitting munching on something at the edge of the path around the lake and he scampered off as I walked by.  Quite a few very little rabbits out as well and they too run off and hide from me.  I always tell them not to run off so I can take their picture but they run away anyway. : )
I had to be satisfied with a picture of Queen Anne's Lace and other weeds along the fence.
A few dead animals were along the path as well.  A snake, a frog, a mouse and a squirrel.

Kathy, the drill sergeant was around the lake again this week with her next group of people trying to whip them into shape.  I'm sure glad I'm not one of those people!!  She has them running, doing push ups and lots of other exercises, yelling at them the whole time.  I am so happy to just be able to walk right past and enjoy my walk! : )

The humidity is supposed to be lower this morning but you could have fooled me.  I was soaked by the time I got home.  Still it was a good walk and I'm glad I was able to be out there walking.

I walked 6.2 miles.

I finished the second jigsaw puzzle.  I've been doing so many puzzles on line on Jigidi that it was nice to do a couple the old fashioned way! : )

Got a couple of loads out on the line drying first thing this morning and then made a trip to the old house to take in the recycling bin.  Good news about recycling here at the townhouse.  Not sure exactly when but in the very near future recycling is going to start here too.  I tried in the beginning to get it started when we moved here but didn't follow through with it.  Thanks to others who kept at it we will now have it!!
Anyway when I got to the house to take in the bin they hadn't been to empty it yet.  Usually they come pretty early but I guess since yesterday was a holiday they are behind.

I had to go to the library to drop off a book for Ken that was due so I went there figuring I'd check back at the house afterward.  I picked out a couple books for Ken that I thought he might like.  I was good and didn't check out any books for myself. Then I went back to the house but the bin still hadn't been emptied.  So I just went back home.  Ken will just have to stop by there after work.  It's just a slight detour for him.

I've had lunch done a few things around the house and now I'm going to have a piece of watermelon and then read.
Ken is working on the late side today so I have some time to sit and read.

Hope you have laughed often today.
A smile from me to you.

I cheated on a title for this post. : )

Hi There Karin, Glad you can still take those long walks in this heat... The heat bothers me much worse now that I am OLD.... ha

Anyhow---walking like you do is probably much healthier than what the Drill Sargent is doing to help someone else....

Love jigsaw puzzles... Your first one was neat--but OH--how I love that second one. Gorgeous.... Gonna start another one?

Hugs,
Betsy

I like the puzzle you just finished. Such a pretty Fall picture that conjures up thoughts of cooler days with less humidity.
Great news on the recycling front. It's so nice to have it picked up at the curb.
Hope Ken enjoys the books you picked out.

Watermelon...must get some more. It's all I feel like eating on these hot, humid days. That is a pretty puzzle.

Drill Sergeant Cathy? A leader of a local group I presume. Those folks had to be wishing for a wet rain in this heat. I can't take it, hats off to you! Great job on the puzzle, I don't have the patience, make me dizzie. You know it's summertime when there's watermelon!

I think I know who the "drill sergeant" is. I remember a woman with 4 or 5 people who she was working out pretty hard. I saw her one Friday when I was at Tai Chi.

I'll have to come over sometime just to watch the drill sergeant!!
Glad you didn't take pics of the dead animals. You think they were suicides? :)

I have had very little take-exercise-in-a-class form experience. NOT for me! Nope. For one thing, I'm not coordinated enough to follow-the-moves-like-everyone-else. Very embarrassing. And I just don't LIKE to be told-what-to-do-now, as it were.

If I'm not in charge, I don't do it. -grin- Perhaps it's the German in me. -giggles- Whatever, that's me and I have happily come to accept it. :-)
