Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking and cleaning

It was 65 degrees this morning and I had a nice walk around the lake in a light drizzling rain.  There was no way I could wear my rain gear because I would have been way too hot.  I thought about taking along my umbrella but didn't feel like carrying it, so I set off in the drizzle not caring about getting wet.
It was really nice walking in the rain.  I could hear the rain drops coming down through the trees, the birds singing, and I didn't have to hold an umbrella up!  By the time I got three quarters around the lake the drizzle had stopped but started up again a few blocks from home.
The geese and ducks were enjoying the wet weather too.  I saw the white egret, a mocking bird, lots of cardinals and gray cat birds and quite a few gold finches as well.  The gold finches are really hard to get a good picture of - they are so small and fast!!  This little bunny didn't seem to be afraid of me at all and let me get real close to take this picture.
It being Monday and rainy there were only a few other people walking around the lake.  I love mornings like this.

My new walking shoes are GREAT!  I walked yesterday and today in them and my feet were just as fine as could be.  I felt like I was flying along in them - so light and comfortable. : )  I'm glad Ken talked me into buying two pair.  I should be set for a while now.

The townhouses here are in the complex that I live in but up the other end.  I walk around the block and turn right here at the corner to go to the lake.  They are putting in a turn lane for my street here at the corner.  We have been waiting for this to happen for a least a year and I look forward to having the extra lane.
This morning I walked 6.3 miles - the steps were 12,934.

Today I plan to stay and home and get some house cleaning done.  I usually start upstairs and make my way down.  Today I'm starting in the kitchen and working my way up.
Hopefully I'll also find some time for knitting and reading.

Hope your Monday is a great start of the week for you.
Enjoy your day!
A smile from me to you.

it must be taken at the right tempo.

That's what's fun about you...changing it up by working from the kitchen up today. So glad that the shoes are working out fine. Do you ever shop in the boys' department for pullover wool sweaters and stuff? So much less expensive and they have all the good colors. My wee friend, about your size, does all the time.

Not that you'll be needing a wool sweater any time soon... ☺

Soooooooooooo glad about the shoes! And also glad he convinced you to by 2. Excellent!

Oh those places which need a turn signal, etc. Oh sigh! And the wait for them, is the real sigh.

So today, you planned to switch your usual cleaning plan. Also excellent. Change like this, can be fun.

Btw, still waiting for my library to tell me (on their web site) that "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" has arrived for me to pick up. It's been coming and coming and coming and I'm done with my last book, and I WANT IT!!! -grin-

to Aunt Amelia - I read "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" and loved it.

Karen - sounds like a fun walk. New shoes will last about 300-500 miles and as I have learned can damage your feet if worn out even if they don't look too bad, so keep track of that. Art

So glad your new shoes are working out well for you. So important for a dedicated walker like you.
I've been working upstairs in my house today. I'm about ready to call it a day and sit down to read for awhile.
Sending a smile back your way :-).

You certainly broke in those new shoes in walking in the rain, that should stretch them out a bit. Love the picture of the rabbit! The sun came out later today, hope you got some time on the deck to enjoy it. It turned out to be a beautiful day. A smile back atcha lady.
