Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A mid morning walk and this and that

When I got up this morning and saw that it was raining I decided to wait until later to walk when it cleared up. So my routine was changed around some today.  I think it's good to do that every so often, keeps one from getting in a rut. : )

I ate breakfast early, did my exercise, did a few house chores, read a few blogs and at 11:20 saw that the rain had stopped.
I put on my walking shoes and hit the road and made my way over to the lake.  A handful of other people where there too but saw only one person that I knew.  As we passed she said to me, I see you waited until the sky cleared too.
While walking the clouds parted and the sun came out so I got to walk in beautiful sunny weather.  It was on the cool side though with a temperature of 48 and a bit on the windy side.  I saw an odd thing that I've never seen before, a man was walking around the lake barefoot!!!  I asked him if his feet were cold but he just smiled and said oh no.
I took these few pictures while walking around the lake.

When I first got to the lake I looked down toward the water and on the grass saw a family of geese.  These are the first babies I've seen this year.  I walked down on the very wet grass and the dad, mom and the four babies all turned around and started walking away from me.
Mom and dad gave me a few hisses as they made their way down to the water
where they all got in and swam away from me.
I was happy to be able to get the pictures.  On the other side of the lake I saw the mallard duck and this black one with the bit of white.  I don't know what kind it is but they always hang out together.
I enjoyed my walk more than usual today.  It was just nice being outside to enjoy the day.  How can you not be happy while walking around this beautiful lake.  I am so thankful to live where I do. : )
I walked 6.5 miles.

It clouded up again when I got back home so I had picked the perfect time of the day to go walking.

Cheryl asked if my camera was back to working or did I get an new one.  Even with another battery my camera still did that weird thing with the lens opening and closing so Ken gave me his camera to use.  The other day Ken came over to me while I was on my computer and gave me a link to go to.  It was to look at a camera.  An Olympus just like the one I have but the newest model.  He then said that he had just ordered it for me.  : )  So I am awaiting my new camera and it should be here any day now. There will be pictures when it arrives.

When Ken came home from work we went out to do a few errands and while we were out stopped at Pei Wei for supper.  I had Seared Lemon Chicken which I had never had before and it was really good.  The fortune in my cookie read, The best times of your life have not yet been lived.  Wow!  I wonder what is in store for me!  My life so far has been pretty good. : )

I bought some fun colors of nail polish.
Blue it
Blue me away
Purple Portion
I also got a new flavor of gum.
It really does taste like chocolate chip mint ice cream.
The flavor doesn't last very long though.

We have been watching another British comedy from Netflix called Doc Martin which we really like.  It is about a doctor who gives up being a surgeon (he has a panic attack when he sees blood) to become the general MD in a small town.  We are also watching the third season of Lark Rise to Candleford.
Before television time I am going do a little reading.

Hope you had a good day and you smiled often.
Happyone : )

How interesting that you enjoyed your walk more than usual today. I'd not have thought it possible. Fun polish colors! Oh boy! A new camera. Now that's going to be a blast.

The geese can be very protective of their goslings -- so glad they only hissed at you! Walking barefooted, hhmmph....

Great photos of your walk. All that rain you've been having is paying off in greenery! I also got a new camera this week.

Those fuzzy babies are so cute.
Your new nail polish colors look like fun. My son's girlfriend was over the other day and had her toenails done in blue. Of course, I liked that :).
I must try that gum as I am a big fan of mint choc. chip ice cream.
How exciting to be getting a new camera. You'll have fun with that.

Rob and I had dinner at Pei Wei last night too! Great minds and all :)) I had Sesame Beef for the first time and loved it. Have you signed up with their website? I just got a coupon for a free entree.

I love new electronics. Your old camera was great. I hope you like the new one even better.

Congrats on the new camera! I'm sure it will have a lot of whoopie cool features. The ducks are so cute with their babies, they're sure not to let you too close. Love the nail polish, purple is my fav. I can't wait til I get a job and can paint my nails again (taboo for interviews). I like your new path, hope you do. I don't see many people on my walk, but then again, I'm not out as long as you are.
