Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Lunch out

No rain this morning but there was a hazy looking sun with a temperature of 57 degrees.  Busy around the lake with lots of people running, walking, dog walking, fishermen,  and a couple of boats on the lake.  I didn't see much wildlife though.  Just the geese and birds.  Maybe too many people around for them.
I took this picture of the path I walked along because I liked the shadow of the tree on it.
Stopped to chat with a couple of people along the way so got home a little bit later than usual.
I enjoyed my walk as usual even though it was pretty uneventful.
I walked 6.2 miles.

Tuesday morning once again and time for my knitting group. Now that it is may we meet outside in the courtyard of a small outside mall.  It was a bit windy and I was a little cool (I'm always cold) but it was a beautiful sunny day and nice to be knitting outside.  Well, I wasn't knitting, I was making weave-its.

I left right at noon because I went to pick up my friend Mary Jo and we went to Olive Garden for lunch together.  We don't get to talk all that much at church so it is always nice to meet so we can have a real talk. : )  I always enjoy spending time with Mary Jo and I'm so glad we have become good friends.

I started my new book but only got as far as page 9 and I already like it!  Now that supper is finished and before it's time for television and ice cream, I am going to read some more of it.

I hope you enjoyed your day and you smiled often.
Happyone : )
A smile costs nothing but gives much.
It enriches those who receive
without making poorer those who give.
None is so rich or mighty
that he cannot get along without it
and none too poor
that he cannot be made rich by it.
Yet a smile cannot be bought,
begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.
Give them one of yours,
as none needs a smile so much
as he who has no more to give.

  1. Love your picture and how you see the shadow ~ a picture in a picture, sort of. I haven't been to the Olive Garden in years, bet it was wonderful, love pasta. You're right, it is often we're so busy, we forget to make plans with friends and catch up, thanks for the reminder. Also, thanks for your support and encouragement, it certainly helps! The smile reminder certainly rings true, loved it!

  2. So nice to read your post :)
I am happy you spent time with a good friend.

  3. Great picture Karen. Is your camera working again or did you get a new one?

Thinking of you on this rainy and colder Wednesday. Yesterday turned out to be such a nice day. I was inside working, but enjoyed it after work. Glad you're back outside with your group.

  4. I couldn't talk John into an Olive Garden lunch yesterday, though I did try. He reminded me that he'd eaten lasagna for a week. (I don't know how to make a small lasagna.)

This spring is much too cool yet for sitting outside...at least in most places. Hope that by next Tuesday things are warmer.

  5. That is a great shadow picture. It looks like one wing of a butterfly to me :).
Sounds like a great day spent with friends and enjoying a good lunch at Olive Garden.

  6. Your header makes me wonder how different the same scene is this week -- everything seems to be 'leafing' and blooming!

Hello my friend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm hoping you will leave a comment.
Thanks. : )
