Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Love

It was 69 degrees and sunny when I walked this morning.  A nice sunny beautiful morning.  I cut my walk short today and only walked 5 miles.  I wanted a little extra time to do a couple of things before going to church.  I walked along a couple of paths through the woods.  At one point I looked down in a clearing near the stream and saw a deer.  Just then a heron came flying past very low to the water.  Deer and heron, what a cool thing to see.  Again I saw lots of rabbits.  Only a couple of people out enjoying the early morning.
A heart leaf from a red bud tree.
John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you,
that you love one another,
even as I have loved you,
that you also love one another.
John 15:12 & 13
This is My commandment,
that you love one another,
just as I have loved you.

Greater love has no one than this,
that one lay down his life for his friend.

A very happy Sunday day you.
Have a blessed day.
Happyone : )

I have never been able to think of the day as one of morning.
I have never quite been able to feel that half-masted flags were appropriate on  Decoration Day.  I have rather felt that the flag should be at the peak, because those whose dying we commemorate rejoiced in seeing it where their valor placed it.  We honor them in a joyous, thankful, triumphant commemoration of what they did.

Deer and heron, indeed! What a great adventure life is -- and what a perfect Sunday!

That quote is so intriguing...I feel that way every time one of Maine's sons fall and the governor decides that the flag must fly at half-mast. I just don't get it as I can't imagine that soldier would want it that way.

On the other hand, I am honored to fly my flag at half-mast tomorrow until noon. Another way to remember.

That should read sons AND daughters as we have lost some women in military service...some as far back as the Civil War.

Your leaf photo and quote are both so appropriate for Memorial Day. Hope you have a sunny day to celebrate.
