Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Yard work

We wanted to get an early start working on the yard at the old house so I didn't get a chance to walk this morning.  I did get a lot of exercise doing the yard work though.  I mowed the front yard again, raked and bagged 10 big bags of leaves, picked up sticks in the back yard and mowed the back too.  It took me four and a half hours.  Ken went through more things for the garage sale, picked up sticks too and cleaned the driveway with the leaf blower and got the weeds picked out of the stone driveway.  We got a lot done and now I will just have to mow and edge every so often.
Here's a few pictures of the old house. It is 105 years old.

It was a beautiful day for working outside.  Cool in the 60's with lots of sunshine. We worked all morning and then went to Subway and I had a turkey sub for lunch.  We also did a few errands and now here we are back home for a while.  After doing yard work all morning I don't feel like planting the flowers here at home.  Maybe tomorrow afternoon.

We will be going out for pizza later for supper which I'm looking forward to.
Hope you're Saturday is a good one.
A smile from me to you.

The old house just looks great. Job well done! Enjoy your afternoon and evening. (We had pizza last night. After working in the yard all afternoon, my brain couldn't think about making supper, though I sure could think about eating some.)

Your old house is so sweet. Is it all made of wood? Is the wood painted or does it have a special coating? This was something we hadn't seen before we visited theSstates. Wood is not good for construction here as the climate is so very damp. The old part of our house is made of stone with the new part being matched with the same stone dug from this valley over concrete blocks.

Ruta, the original house was clapboard wood. Years later it had white asbestos singles on it. When we moved there we put vinyl siding on it that looks like the original wood style.

AuntAmelia, we moved because we lived there for 14 years and we were more than ready for a change. I loved living there, but love where I am too. We just need change - must come from being in the military. : )

What a lovely house! It will be a sad day for you when you sell it, I'm sure. Fourteen years holds alot of memories. As long as you are happy where you are, that's what matters. Change can be a good thing.
