Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another day another walk

34 degrees and a damp misty morning again.  I opened the door and it wasn't actually misting so I didn't bother with the rain clothes.  They are not that comfortable to walk in and don't wear them unless I really have to.  Walking along it did mist once in a while but not enough to get me wet and at times I even got a quick glimpse of blue but that didn't last and it was just starting to mist again when I got home.
I walked around the lake.  The bird music was back and I saw a more than usual number of Cardinals - always so pretty.  A couple of rabbits were out eating grass along the path.

Only a few people were out around the lake.  I saw two women who I often see out walking together and they speak Spanish but say good morning to me in English when I see them.  This morning I answered back  Buenos Dias.  One of them started speaking Spanish to me and I laughed and  told her that was the only Spanish I knew and that I wished I could speak it.  She told me tomorrow I should say back Come estas.  I knew what that meant and said back muy bien gracias.  She laughed and said see you know more than you think.  I then told her I admire people who can speak two languages.  She smiled and said Thank You.

I also ran into the people with the dog again.  I stopped and told them I looked up the breed Rhodesian Ridgeback and thought it was an interesting dog.  I mean there aren't many dogs that can hunt lions.  I learned his name was Harley and he was quite a nice dog now that I've met him.  Funny I know the dogs name but not his owners.

It was a great walk today and nice to meet and talk to some nice people along the way.
I walked a little bit around the neighborhood too and ended up walking 7.1 miles.

The raisin bread that I made yesterday turned out scrumptious and I did end up having two pieces of it for my snack last night.  When it was first done I had the tiniest little piece from the end.  I had two pieces again toasted for breakfast this morning.  That is two bread recipes I've made from the book and have lots more to try.  But first I need to go out and buy some more bread flour.

This morning I baked chocolate chip cookies to bring with me tomorrow morning when I go to the hair salon.  It's time again for Cheryl to give my hair a trim and dye.
I didn't eat any cookies, but I did eat some cookie dough.  That is just too hard to resist.  I kept some cookies for Ken and I too and put them in the freezer.

Linda, who has been in the old pictures with me, and I are cousins on my mothers side.  Our mothers are sisters.  They were not only sisters but friends as well.  Linda has a sister Patty and the three of us kids spent many many hours together with our moms and grandmother too.  I remember much laughter and good times. This picture is of our moms together on my moms wedding day with her sister as matron of honor.  I think  both my Aunt Jean and mother Ida are beautiful.

I feel so sad that my mom now 80 years old and Aunt Jean a few years older have not spoken to each other in 45 years.
I am glad though that Linda and I keep in touch.  We are family and share many happy memories.
This picture is of us three kids, Patty, Me, Linda.  It must have been my birthday since I have a present in front of me.
Linda is also the Linda who sells Longaberger Baskets which I have a link to on my sidebar.   Collect Longaberger Baskets?  Check out her link HERE

Another day at home for me.  It's a good thing I'm a homebody or I might be getting tired of being home so much this week.  I'm looking forward to going out to eat tonight and enjoying the weekend.

Hope your Friday is a good one and you find happiness along your way today.
A smile from me to you.

I saw on the news last night that another storm is heading your way. You sure have had a wet, cool spring. Should be good for your trees and flowers. That bread looks yummy!

The quote for today is perfect and so true.

Staying home all week? Why you've been miles and miles from home this week.

What pretty girls your mother and aunt are. I'm sorry that they no longer have a relationship. Something big must've happened.

I went to check Linda's site. Do you know that she has a beer bread mix for $6? I wonder if that means I wouldn't have to buy the beer. Because if it did, that would float my boat entirely. I don't like buying beer. I don't mind drinking it, I just don't want to buy it. Ha!

You've changed things around in here. I really, really like the font. It's so easy to read.

I'm baking some bread for supper. I figure if I make it more often, it'll stop beckoning us so much. Right now it's like "FRESH BREAD...COME AND GET IT...EAT IT ALL RIGHT NOW..." I'm hoping for "Fresh bread. Big whoop. Who cares?"

That bread looks so good!!!

Did I tell you that middle daughter has a Ridgeback? I think it's really funny that that dogs barks while they're walking. I wonder what he's thinking. :)

I like your new format better as well. It is alot easier for you to put more in your blog it seems, especially with the pictures. It is a shame your mother and her sister no longer speak. I hope they fix that before it is too late. Once again, you hit a home run with the bread, looks delicious. Your quote certainly holds truth. I too wish I spoke more Spanish, that the 6th grade level that I learned...it's on my someday list. I've been home all week too, nothing to blog about, not even the icky weather, although, thankfully today improved.

Took Spanish in college... But the only thing I remember is... "Buenos Dias, Herman Thomas [Thoooo-masssssss] Francisco." :-)

I went to a catholic college and many of my professors, were nuns. :-) And every day we had to say; "Good morning, Sister Thomas Francis."

I visited you last night and then got sidetracked and never left a comment. This morning your page was still open. Now that was a long visit :).
There are a lot of Spanish speaking people around here. I often wish I could understand what they are saying. I admire people who can speak several languages.
Your mom & her sister look so pretty in the picture. It seems heartbreaking that they don't speak to one another. I'm glad that you and Linda haven't let that stand in the way of being close.
