Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A shared table

A cool 28 degrees this morning but it was still and sunny which made for good walking weather as I made my way around the lake.  Last Friday I took this picture of the cement foot bridge in the rain.  This is what it looks like today, one week later.
Not too many people out early, maybe they are waiting until later when it's supposed to be 50.  I saw two deer on the path that leads to the lake but none around the lake.  I spotted a little wren sitting on a branch.
I found my first coin for the month - a penny.
A pretty quiet uneventful walk, but enjoyable just the same.
I walked 6.4 miles.

I went to the library to drop off a book that was due tomorrow and to pick up a book that I had on hold.  The book was a biography of Mark Twain volume 1.  The book was huge, like an encyclopedia.  After checking it out and sitting down to look at it I realized there was no way I was going to read it.  Since the book is new and there are a lot of people waiting for it, I wouldn't be able to renew it and it would have been impossible for me to finish it in two weeks.   I didn't really care to delve into his life quite that much and this was just the first volume.  I ended up just returning it without even bringing it home.  I got three other books out instead.

Ken and I had lunch together this afternoon in a little place that had great food.  There were people waiting in line and we gave our name and were waiting for a table.  Another couple who just was seated at a table for four asked if anyone cared to join them at their table.  The other couples ahead of us all said no, but we decided to take them up on their offer and we had lunch with them.  They were both very nice and we enjoyed getting to know them during lunch.  :-)

The cake yesterday was very good.  Ken doesn't like it as much as I do.  He says its too dense and likes the light fluffy kind better.   That is fine with me - it just leaves more for me.  I'm going to have another piece later tonight.

Hard to believe it is Friday already.  This week seemed to fly by.

Hope your Friday was a happy day.
A smile from me to you.

I can't believe you're still having such cold morning temps! I'm in Denver, and it was warmer than that here. What's Ken thinking? Dense chocolate is best!

A penny is a good way to start the monthly collection, can only get better from there. It sure was a quick week, where did it go? I think we are all ready to help you with your cake, problem is you are the only one walking it off. Another thing on my to do list is start walking, you are my motivator, just as soon as it warms up, no more excuses.

Enjoyed the walk, today. Enjoy that delicious cake, and wish I'd had some with my coffee tonight.

He likes the light and fluffy kind better? Well this did turn out well for you. I don't believe that I could've handled that volume on Mark Twain either, though I find him wonderful in small doses. Have yourself another happy day! (Snowing here and then going to rain.)

Nice that you did. Lots of people, eating at a shared table, is the European way, as you know. Well, not everywhere. But in the bistros where real-locals-go, they do. Long tables and everyone just sits. :-) And it can be fun, for a change.

I'd not want to do it, all the time. But now and then, could be fun!

It sounds like you made the right decision on the Mark Twain book.
I don't think I've ever met a chocolate cake that I don't like :).
Have a great weekend.
