Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Spring is on its way.

I slept in a little bit later this morning and got up at 6:30.  Laying there I realized that I don't need any motivation to walk.  Walking is my motivation to get out of bed in the morning. :-)
It was a warm cloudy morning with a temperature of 43 degrees when I headed out the door at 7:00.  I walked on the sidewalk down the road, turned left and walked to the end of Gray Rock and back home again.  I wanted to see if I could find any signs of spring in the yards that I passed by.
In quite a few yards I saw daffodils starting to pop through the dirt.
And these buds.  Not much but its a start.
A few robins were hopping about and some crows were sitting on the top branches of trees talking to each other.
I didn't see anyone else walking but I did see lots of runners.  Some were even in shorts.  A bit chilly for that yet I think.
A pretty quiet walk but oh so good to be able to be out and walking.
I walked 6.4 miles.

I just love Peeps and yesterday Ken bought me some of them.
It's those little things, that say I love you. :-)
Just marshmallow and sugar but oh so good and each one is only 28 calories.  I had one yesterday and will eat one a day until they are gone.  A special treat for me.  Thanks Kenny.
Yesterday I bought some seeds.
The sweet basil I am going to plant in the blue planter I got last week and keep it sitting on the window sill.  It's great to have fresh basil around.  I'll post another picture once it is actually growing.
The flower seeds I am going to plant in a couple of huge flower pots out on the deck.  I live in a townhouse and don't have a back yard but do have a nice big deck off the kitchen.  Last year I tried growing tomatoes and peppers and had no luck at all so I'm going to try flowers this year.

Ken is out and about this morning but will be home for lunch.  Then we are going to head out to Stoner's Auction in Pennsylvania.  Not planning on buying anything, but you know how that goes.  Even if we don't buy anything at all it's still fun to be at an auction.  I'm going to bring some knitting to do while I'm there too.  I'm going to knit a dish cloth. It's easy and something I can knit without having to think about it.  Perfect for an auction.

Hope you have a nice day planned too.
Enjoy your Saturday.
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)

and the wind blows cold:
When it is summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.

Well, Denver was 20 this morning - I knew I shouldn't have commented about you being colder! I haven't tasted a Peep since I was a kid - just the thought makes my teeth ache!

Spring is certainly on its way and I am so looking forward to it. Hope you enjoyed the auction, we enjoy them, and I can't tell you the times I have gone with the intention of just being an on looker and came home with the car loaded.lol.
Enjoy your weekend.

Seeds and sprouts! I notice, too, that the trees are sporting buds. And I heard the owl for the first time all winter on Saturday night and again last night. Exciting, isn't it?
