A quiet walk and old pictures

My walk this morning was around the lake.  It was dry when I left so I didn't wear my rain slicker or rain pants.  It felt like rain though.  Once I got to the lake there was a slight misty drizzle and that came and went a couple of times and finally stopped.  Then once I was about a mile from home, back came that misty drizzle which turned into plain ordinary rain and by the time I got home I was pretty wet.  It was only 34 degrees so it was a cold rain too.  Still I was dry for most of my walk and the one good thing about rainy mornings is that I get the lake to myself.  Only saw one other person.  When I get to the lake I usually turn right and walk that way, but today I went left and walked around the opposite way.  Each way around, the hills to walk up are pretty equal.  I saw something fly by out of the corner of my eye and it was the heron coming in for a landing at the waters edge.  I couldn't get very close but close enough to take this picture.

That is worth walking in the rain any morning. : )  Very quiet around the lake.  Even the birds and geese were quiet.

Just yesterday AuntAmelia had a post about bread machines and I left a comment that I use mine all the time and don't know what I'd do without it. This morning I was all set to make some bread in mine and as I was taking the bread machine out of the cabinet it slipped right out of my hands and went crashing to the floor.  Pieces of plastic went flying all over the place and now I no longer have a bread machine.  My wood floor as a few nicks in it too now.  I've had that bread machine for years.  Guess I'll just have to get a new one.  It was starting to make a funny noise once in a while anyway.  

I think tonight after we go out for pizza, we will just have to stop on the way home and find a new one to buy.  Maybe it will be even better than my old one.

These two pictures were also taken the same Christmas as yesterdays muff picture.  I was four years old.  

I've just come down the stairs and got a look at the Christmas tree and the presents Santa had brought me.  Check out that wall paper.  What was grandma thinking of when she picked that out. : )

Another favorite present of mine that year was a Betsy Wetsy doll.  I'm sitting here in my Sunday dress all ready for church holding my doll. 

We were living with my grandma while waiting for our house to be built which was a couple towns away.  Four years later we were back at grandma's waiting for another house to be finished.  This one just a half mile from her.  I loved living so close to my grandma and I could ride my bike to see her whenever I wanted.  She was always a gentle, happy grandma to me and I spent many hours with her and I loved her. : )  She died a couple of weeks before I turned 17.

It's been another day at home for me just getting more stuff done around the house. I'm looking forward to my usual reading and knitting while waiting for Ken to get home from work.
