Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

A pretty morning sky and more old pictures

I stayed walking along the sidewalks this morning and didn't stay to any of my usual routes.  The temperature was 32 degrees and right after looking a beautiful morning sky
it was cloudy for the rest of the time.  The sky changes so fast that I'm glad I was able to get this picture.  No wind and it was a bit warmer than it has been.
Just a few people out.  A runner, a walker and a couple of people walking their dogs.  One dog was out walking his owner.  The dog was on a lead but the woman let it go wherever it wanted.  On the sidewalk, up driveways, over people's lawn, through gardens and anywhere else the dog wanted to go.
I didn't see any deer but I did see a couple of reindeer. One eating and one watched as I walked by.  : )
I took a walk passed the liquor store just before I came home hoping to find a couple of coins, but not today.
I walked 6.4 miles.

Planning on just spending the day at home.  Nothing special - just a regular day.  Nothing to blog about yet.

When I was a kid, my parents took me and my cousin Linda on vacation to Lake George in New York.  I was an only child and Linda came along for company for me.  I'm not positive but I think I had just turned 5.  Mom or Linda, if you are reading this do you remember what year this is?
Here are me, my mom and Linda at the lake.
Here's one of me just me.
There are hardly ever any pictures of my dad because he was always taking the pictures.
On the way to Lake George we stopped at a few places along the road that are for kids.  Places like, Story Town, Frontier Town, and the North Pole.  I'll be posting some more pictures in the days to come.

A happy day to you.

  1. Lake George, Story Town, Frontier Town, the North Pole. These are/were just above my *neck of the woods.*

Lake George is still there, and a big amusement park [The Great Escape] is... But some of those others, probably are no more.

  2. Reindeer made me laugh. You had me wondering for a minute. I'm loving "the wayback machine." What a cute pic of you, your mom, and Linda on the beach. You know what they say about those red skies in the morning...guess it's true today.

  5. You captured another beautiful sunrise. I'm glad it wasn't raining as forecasted. I loved the reindeer. I've heard of Lake George in NY, not sure where it is. I love all the old pictures, looking forward to your future picture posts. Hope you enjoyed your day!

  6. That was a great trip that we had. We had so much fun. I don't remember the year, but if you were just 5, then I was 8, I guess it was 1956.
