Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Experience Joy

Another Joyce Meyer devotional this Sunday.

John 15:11
I have told you these things,
that My joy and delight may be in you,
and that your joy and gladness
may be of full measure and complete and overflowing.

Are you like some believers who think that in order to be filled with the joy of the Lord they must be turned on, fired up, and superhyped?
God wants your joy to be full and complete, but that doesn't mean you have to swing from chandeliers!
Some define joy as hilarity, and there is some basis for that definition.  But according to Strong's Concordance, the Greek word chara, translated joy in the above verse, means calm delight.
My husband, Dave, likens this calm delight to a bubbling brook that just flows along quietly and peacefully, bringing refreshment to everything and everyone along its path.  Doesn't that sound appealing?
Of course there will be times when your joy will be supercharged and exciting, but most of the time we will live with a simple calm delight.

A nice early morning walk for me around the lake.  I got up a little bit later because of the time change but was out the door a little before 7:00. I'm back to starting in the dark but the bright side of that is that I get to see the sunrise. :-)
I walked 6.5 miles and found two pennies.

Off I go now to get ready for church.  :-)

May you experience joy as a calm delight today and every day.
Happyone :-)
Peace on the outside comes from knowing
God on the inside.

Oh I like Dave's description. Joyce is blessed to have him in her life. They are a neat couple!

Oh I knew you'd find the bright side of walking in the shadows for a bit...the sunrise! Hope we get to see a few of those, too, via your camera.

Forgot to say that this sunrise looks like Dave's description of calm delight.

Oh yeah, the time change puts you back in the dark again for your morning walks. Hang in there, won't be long before beautiful sunrises surround you again.
