Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A new project for me

Unfortunately we had some freezing stuff coming down this morning which made all surfaces not salted icy.  It was really just a mist that was freezing.  So once again I couldn't get outside to walk.  I started the day off doing my exercise DVD and then ran in place for five miles.  I watched the Today show again while running.
The roads were pretty well salted and Ken made it to work just fine - no problem at all.
I did decided not to go to my knitting group this morning though.

I was in the mood for pancakes so I made some for breakfast.  Nothing fancy today, just a pancake with syrup but very good anyway.

In the old house there was a bottom cabinet in the kitchen that pulled out for trash and recyclables.  I didn't have that at this house and really missed it.  We measured one of the cabinets here and realized that the insides of the old cabinet would fit perfectly in a bottom cabinet here.  So that is just what we did.  Now once again I have my pull out for the trash.

This weekend is a train weekend for Ken so I have decided to do a little project here at home on my own.  I will be painting my loft.  Today I starting getting ready by taking  pictures off the walls and moving all the furniture and various projects to the center of the room.  Since I hate the taping part, Ken said he would do that for me.  I haven't picked the exact color yet but it will be a pink.  A nice bright cheery color.  I would like to get some low white cabinets with doors on them from Ikea.  Then I can organize things better and keep the loft neater than I have been.
Here are a couple of before pictures.

By the afternoon the temperature has moved up to 38 and the ice is pretty much melted.  Still a cloudy gray day and more icy weather is expected tonight and into the morning.

I'm thawing out some chicken for supper tonight.  I wanted to try something new so I browsed around on MealsMatter and found a chicken recipe that I will be trying tonight.  If it's any good I'll post about it tomorrow.

Last year I read the book Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and now we are watching the mini series.  We've watched the first disc from Netlix and there are two more.  It is very good and so far has been very good at following the book.  I have not read the sequel to the book but I plan on reading it soon.

A happy day to you.  Hope you're staying warm and safe if you live in one of the many places where there is snow and ice.
And if it is sunny and warm where you are, enjoy it!! :-)

A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)

I've been noticing all the new fonts out there. It reads nice and easy. Sorry that you're still getting the nasty northern weather and ice is always the worst. I hate the stuff. Another painting project so soon? It takes me years to get to the second painting project that's how much I dislike painting. I would like the very efficient garbage recyclable set up and can see why you had missed it.

Great that your project for the trash/recycle bins worked out so well.

Our good friend will be at the train thing this weekend, too. They now live in NC.

I thought about you today. I was out in my yard today and almost stepped on a snake!! I went and got the shovel and was going to try and kill him, even though he played dead, but I didn’t have the heart to do it. He will probably aggravate me this coming summer and I will wish I had even if he‘s not poisonous. And to think we had snow on the ground a week and half ago. It’s going to be a long summer for me in NC!!! I’m going to have to start tip toeing through the yard and it just Feb!

Have fun painting!

I can imagine by the time the snow and ice is done for the year you will feel very glad to have your indoor painting all done.
The trash/recyclable set-up looks like a great one to keep things out of sight.
I'm anxious to know how you like the chicken recipe. I'm always on the look out for new chicken recipes.

Your old blog font is back on your blog but the new is here in comments!

You and Ken get so much done around the house. Always impressive. It's a wonder there's enough hours in the day!

I hope you get to walk tomorrow.
