Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

The kitchen is done!

I didn't get to have that ice cream last night, just too many calories again.  I'm eating sparingly today so tonight I can have some!! :-)

A chilly cloudy morning with a temperature of 19.  I walked a neighborhood path through the woods before heading over to the lake to walk around it.  Kept to the lower path today.  Not a lot of people out there this morning but the people who were out were women in pairs.  Once again I saw a fox!  I didn't see any deer but maybe they read this sign
and were in hiding.  I know there are too many deer around  but it makes me sad to think that some of the deer I see in the morning are going to be killed. :-(
I walked 7 miles.

As soon as I got home I taped to get ready for the last bit of kitchen painting.  Ken usually does the taping because I hate doing it but since he was at work I had to do it.  There wasn't much to do but it still took me a long time.  Put on my painting clothes, ate breakfast and then painted the first coat.  While that was drying I continued putting the kitchen back to order.  Put things back on top of the cabinets, filled up the hutch again, and hung pictures back up.  After lunch I painted a second coat and put the cookie cutters back up over the window.  Then it was time to pull the tape off, do a little touch up here and there.  Finished putting some odd and ends around, hung the curtains back up, and finally stepped back glad to be finished.  Then of course I had to take some pictures of the completed job.

I've spent the entire day in the kitchen and when Ken gets home from work I'm suggesting we go out to eat.  I'm tired of being in the kitchen!
I am really pleased with how the whole project turned out and glad we got it done so quickly!  I love my new blue kitchen. :-)

Till next time....
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)

for good food and warmth,
for the touch of a friendly hand
and for a talk beside the fire:
it is the time for home.

  3. Hooray! It's lovely! And how quickly it went, actually. Goes to show, when we put our mind to it, we can do wonders. :-)

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my "tough" post. You aren't doing any of those excessive things, which I *bemoaned.* [Like inches of makeup and black, black hair.... that's what I was referring to]

And of course, every one is perfectly free to do anything they wish, with themselves. I just gave my ideas, and asked for the ideas of other. And you and lots of Dear Readers, gave them. And a wonderful mix, it was!

For me, it's neat to throw in unique topics, for discussion, now and then. I know, this too, is not for all. But..... I'm very grateful to the Dear Readers who take the time to join in, with their views.

Oh and you don't do excessive exercise! You have FUN! And it's wonderful that you've always done this. So wonderful. I missed out on a lot, by not starting many years ago.

Oh well... When I get this cold licked, I'm getting back on my schedule. :-)

    Gentle Jan. hugs...

  4. With all the work you accomplished, you definitely can have dessert tonight! The blue is a lovely soft shade, and the bright dishes make nice contrast.

  5. Your kitchen looks so crisp and clean! I thought you were going to say that you could stay there forever. Guess not.

Try not to think about what's going to happen at the park. Such things are for the good of the deer, too. Sigh.

Hope you get your ice cream tonight!

  6. Wow, it looks great. My house needs painting as well, but we aren't as industrious as you are. We would probably pay someone to do it and it would be very distruptive since it would be a whole house project.

    But your kitchen looks great.

  9. What a great feeling it must be to have your kitchen put back together. It looks beautiful and I think the color you chose really goes well with your countertops. The quilt on your table is so pretty too.
Thanks for your well wishes. I am sitting more comfortably today, so things are looking up :).

  10. The kitchen looks great! You did such a nice job.

The shooting of the deer makes me sad, too, but the herds really need to be culled. And at least the meat will go to feed people. This is the first time I ever recall them doing that at Centennial Park.
