Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Party, pizza and baking

We both had a great time at the Christmas party we went to Saturday night at Cheryl's house.  Nice people to talk to, good food and a couple of Guinness made for a happy evening. :-)
This is a picture of Cheryl and I.

Yesterday morning and today I walked the same route.  Straight down the road, a turn at Gray Rock where I walked to the end and turned around and came home.  I walked on the sidewalk where I could and then in the road where the sidewalks were snowy and/or icy.  All of you who are going to tell me to be careful and that I shouldn't walk in the street, please don't worry.   I walk facing traffic and when I see a car coming I hop up on the curb.  I don't listen to music when I walk and I'm well aware of what is going on around me.
It as been so cold that our puny little couple of inches of snow is still around.  Usually it's gone the same or next day.
Here is what the sidewalks look like around here.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the people who shovel their sidewalks.  It is very much appreciated!!
Just saw a few people out both days and no wildlife.  I spent too much time looking down to see where I was walking. The temperature was 24 degrees and the morning was cloudy.
I walked 6.4 miles.

Sunset 4:47

A quick stop at the library yesterday afternoon with Ken and I picked up two audio books to listen to while I'm in the kitchen or knitting.

For supper last night we made pizza.  As usual I made the dough in the bread machine and Ken made the actual pizza.  We put green and red peppers on it and Ken said I should take a picture because it looked like a Christmas Pizza.
Here are the two pizzas we made ready for the oven. The part that doesn't have cheese and peppers on it is just a bit of olive oil and garlic that Ken made special for me. :-)
Here is one coming out of the oven and ready to eat.
And Oh Yes, it was good!!!

I made a TO DO List today with 16 tasks on it.  I did the housework ones first to get them out of the way.  One task was to vacuum upstairs.  The vacuum wasn't picking up good so I thought it was time to change the bag.  When I opened the vacuum up to change the bag I saw that the bag had come undone and must have come undone quite a while ago! What a mess that was.  There I was with my car vacuum vacuuming the inside of a vacuum.  That was a first for me!! :-)
A fun task on my list was to bake Chocolate chip cookies.
Then I made up these little snowmen holiday bags of cookies for my friends at the Tuesday knitting group.  I've made sixteen up with four cookies in each bag.  Tomorrow I will give one to who ever shows up to knit.
While I baked I listened to one of the audio books I got yesterday,  The Perfect Christmas by Debbie Macomber.
One item that didn't get crossed off my list was to bake a cake called YumYum Cake.  Just ran out of time but I'll do that tomorrow or the next day.  Ironing was on my list too which I won't be doing today.  Not too bad though - I did 14 out of 16.

I'm off now to read some blogs and then clean up the kitchen before I mess it up again making Tacos for supper.

A happy day to you.
Happyone :-)
Christmas is a time to open our heart to God and His gift.
Just like the rest of the year.

I made your cookies and sent them to my brother in Atlanta! I know he's going to love them. Your pizza DOES look so festive! I bet it tasted great!

Nice picture of you and Cheryl and the party sounds like fun. Of course I was also checking out Cheryl's decorations and love her 3 color bottle brush trees.
Your cookie baking sounds preferable to the vacuum problem. Mind if I ask where you got those cute snowman bags? Love them. You are going to be putting smiles on a lot of faces at your knitting group.
The pizza looks yummy!

Your outfit is nice, but... I still want to see a picture of the red dress. You know you'd better put it on and have Ken snap a pic of you! 'Cause by now, you know I don't give up, with my requests. -grin-

Nope, not gonna' holler at you for walking in the road. I used to do the same thing, when walking. You can be careful. Am glad to know you listen to your surroundings though.

Personally, I can't see why people put music in their ears, outside. Listening to Nature is one of the perks of a walk! Seems to me anyway. And the treadmill is not, not, not the same. -pout- :-)

Happy Yule Eve.

Kim, those cute little bags came from Anne's House of Nuts. They had lots of other kinds too. I just love that store! :-)

Homemade pizza is the best! We also have a layer of snow and since it is just around the freezing point it is pretty slick! Thanks always!

We have started a new Christmas tradition at our house. When our daughter comes home from college we give her a day to sleep, to recoup from finals and the all-nighters that go with it. Then we get together as a family for home-made pizza and we get to be together without all the trappings of Christmas day. It's wonderful. Your pizzas looked delightful and there is no pizza that beats a homemade one.

We got some snow this evening...it's, you guessed it, slick. I'm going to stop telling you to be careful as I know that you are a savvy gal who knows her way around. Glad that you had a fun time at the party...that's a great picture of you and Cheryl. Say, I see that Aunt Amelia is giving you a run for your money over that red dress and she's mentioned it so often that I just have to say that I'd like to see it, too. I'm ducking and running...
