Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Back to walking

I was able to get out and walk this morning.  I left an hour later than usual when it was light so I would be able to see the ice and avoid it. There was still a lot ice around because a lot of people don't shovel their sidewalks but I managed to walk where there was no ice.  It was one crazy route today.  I would hate to have to trace where I walked.  I walked around parking lots, up and down sidewalks, sometimes in the road and did a lot of back tracking.  Whenever I came across ice I would turn around and go back the other way.  The picture is of one place where I turned around.  It was good to be out walking again so I'm not complaining. I didn't see any wild life except for the birds and squirrels.  Only saw one other person out walking a dog.  At 25 degrees out and no breeze it felt warm (must be getting used to cold temperatures).
I walked 6.2 miles.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We enjoyed the Christmas program at church last night.  It was called A Christmas Prayer and was a musical.  It always amazes me that we have so many talented singers in a little church.  This little church is truly blessed. :-)
After lunch we went out and picked up some Guinness to bring to Cheryl's Christmas party that we will be going to tonight.  I'm going to the party in comfort, wearing one of the new jeans I just bought a couple of days ago.
Lots of traffic out on the roads with this being the last weekend before Christmas.  Crazy drivers, either poking along or zooming in and out of traffic.  Came across an accident.  Nothing serious, just a fender bender.
I'm home now and I'm just going to read and knit for a while.  We will have just a little something here to eat for supper.  Snacks tonight will be the food at the party, where I know I'm going to eat too much.  I'm bringing chocolate chip cookies and pheffernuesse cookies.
Hope this Saturday finds you happy and finished shopping!
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)
No matter how carefully you stored the lights last year,
they will be snarled again this Christmas.
Not finished, though I have started which is an improvement. Sometimes that snow covers ice so you're wise to avoid it. Have a happy party!
Avoid the ice! Good for you!
Then again, without traction, it's possible to simply slide dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn, on some snow. I know. LOL!
Coming home last night, after having NOT a drop of 'libations,' getting down out of my son's huge van, holding onto my husband's hand, [see I had issues covered] I simply slowly and softly and without any damage, slid/sat right down on the driveway. lol. It was pretty funny, even at the time.
My husband and son were both trying to get me up again. But I know how to do it, and they had to let me "do my thing." With some hand-help, after I had myself positioned. But the technique is important! lol.
Needless to say, those particular shoes must not be worn OUT the door, in Winter time. :-)
Gentle Christmas hugs...
