Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

At Home Today

Sunrise 6:30
Sunset 7:49
This morning was cool like yesterday but today the sun was shining as well while I walked my connect the path route and walked 6.2 miles.  As usual when I walk this route I don't see that many people. I did see a couple of deer but it was a quiet walk today.  Didn't see anyone I knew.  My route takes me through the parking lots of the elementary and middles school and although the kids go back to school on Monday the teachers were there today.  Once school starts there will be a lot more traffic. The picture is the end of a little trail that is off the main path.  Here is where it comes to an end and I turned around and went back to the main path.

It was a stay at home day for me this Wednesday and I stayed busy. I did two loads of laundry and hung them out to dry and then ironed Ken's work shirts.  Did a few other chores around the house.
Put the ingredients for white bread in the bread machine and had the smell of fresh bread baking.
I also got a batch of Chocolate Chip cookies baked.  Tomorrow I'll take some to my dentist because I didn't bring any on Monday.  Hopefully it will be a nice surprise.  He does share them with the others. :-)

Since Ken has gone out after work today, my supper was the top piece of the bread I baked.  The top is always the best because it is big and thick.  I put butter and strawberry jelly on it and boy was it delicious!  I know it's not that much of a supper but the piece of bread was very large and I was full after eating it.
That is one big piece of bread isn't it!?

The other day two new telephone poles were set out on the side street of my house.
It appears that they are finally going to take that telephone pole out of the middle of the road and up a new one where it belongs.

Just yesterday someone ran over the barrels driving up the road and narrowly missed the pole.  I just happened to be out there and saw it.  A while back someone turning left smacked right into the pole.  No one was hurt.
It will be nice to have the pole out of there.

This evening I will read until Ken comes home.  If he doesn't come home too late we will watch an episode of Dexter from Netflix and have ice cream.  If he comes home late I'll eat the ice cream anyway and continue reading!

I hope you all enjoyed your Wednesday.
Happyone :-)
The future lies before you,
like paths of pure white snow.
Be careful how you tread it,
for every step will show.

  1. I don't think I have ever seen a light pole in the middle of the road. Good thing they decided to move it. LOl!
I made oatmeal choc.chip cookies yesterday. They are a little dry. I am going to try applesauce in them next time. I just have to figure out how much to put in . I am going to use applesauce instead of butter or shortening. Have in suggestions on how much to use? Thanks.

  2. Karen, don't know for sure, but I would just substitute the fat content amount with the same amount of applesauce.

  3. We are absolutetly loving our new (from ebay) breadmaker. While our friends were here I made 2 loaves everyday and I made up my own version of fruit bread (added sultanas & spices and used butter instead of oil plus extra sugar) as well.

  4. That bread looks delicious! But didn't you know that you're never supposed to eat the end piece until there's nothing else? It keeps the loaf from drying out. Like you care, right? Ha! Sounds like a busy, productive day. I baked a cake. It rained all day and when John came home at noon he wondered why he couldn't smell anything good baking. That man is spoilt!

  5. We also like strawberry jelly and freshly-made bread. It's one of our favorite treats.
It sounds as if that pole can't be moved out of the middle of the street fast enough.
