Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Friday Part 1, The Cumberland Gap

Yesterday Ken took a vacation day and we decided to take a drive up to Deep Creek Lake which is about 180 miles from home. We got up early and started out first thing in the morning and stopped for breakfast along the way at McDonalds. I was wondering what I could eat that wasn't bad for me there and saw that they had oatmeal and fruit. I had that and it was surprisingly good. The oatmeal was nice and hot and the fruit was cut up in nice small pieces.
About 100 miles into our drive we stopped at the rest area at The Cumberland Gap, walked around a bit and took some pictures.
I took this picture Standing on this bridgeAfter walking up these stairsWhich you can see in this picture on the rightLayers of rock
Amazing isn't it?
Then we continued on to Deep Creek.
Later this evening I'll post about the rest of our day with photos at Deep Creek.
Till then.......

I love the Cumberland Gap. I was sorry it was closed in March when Rob and I went to Deep Creek. I wanted to have him experience the walking bridge.
