Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The first tiny tomato

Sunny, hot, and humid this morning on my walk like yesterday with temperature in the 70's already. There were lots of cars in the parking lot. I guess everyone was trying to get in their exercise in before it got hotter. People were already at the playground with their kids!
I saw the heron again standing on the rocks. I got pretty close to it before it took off over the lake. Every time I've watched the heron fly off before it was silent. Today this one made a low squawking sound. I guess I made him mad.
I also saw another snapping turtle. This one was way up the path away from the water by the bottom of a tree. It was digging a hole to lay her eggs. I could see that she was swollen with eggs. I took a couple of pictures but I'm saving them to put on my photo blog tomorrow so you can see the turtle there if you care to.
I always see little birds flying around by the lake and they never seem to land anywhere. They remind me of bats as I watch them fly around. Someone told me that they were swallows. I'll have to go look them up and learn about them.

We had super last night at Red Robin. If it is your birthday, some of the staff come around and does some kind of clapping and saying something about it being your birthday. I never can hear what they actually say because of all the clapping going on. Anyway every so often we are there to witness it. Yesterday it happened EIGHT times. That must be some kind of record!!

This morning I cleaned my refrigerator. I have been keeping the milk in the door on that nice big shelf where the half gallon fits so nicely. I heard that is not the best place to keep the milk because the coldest part is at the back of the refrigerator. So I moved things around in there and that is what prompted me to clean the whole thing.

A while back I planted a cherry tomato plant and a bell pepper plant on the deck in pots. I just noticed that there is a little tomato starting to grow and the tiniest start of a pepper. I am so excited. I hope all goes well and we will actually get some of them to eat.

I am just going to hang around the house the rest of the afternoon and knit and read. Later when the sun goes away from the front of the house I'll go outside and water all the plants out there. A few of the plants that I planted have died but most are doing fine. I'll post photos when they get a bit bigger.

So that's it for today.
Enjoy your Friday!
Happyone :-)

FYI Watering plants in the evening causes bug infestation when bugs feed the most, at night. It is better to always water first thing in the morning. Love ya, Pamie

Pam, I didn't realize that. I will change to watering in the morning when I get back from my walk. Thanks! :-)

Wow, beautiful photo on your header. The ray of sunlight is just gorgeous. Did you take it on one of your walks?
I have just come in from staking up my tomato plants to read about your plants. Isn't it exciting to see tiny little vegetables forming. I can't wait to take the first bite.

Gorgeous header photo! Looking forward to seeing the snapping turtle photos.

Your tomato plant looks very healthy and happy. At least you don't have to worry about the bunnies eating your plants.

Hi Karen,
Stopping by to say hello. I'm caught up on your blog, again. I wish I had the time to be regular. One day, it will happen again.

I'm off to look at your turtle pictures :)

Between the two of us, maybe we could have a produce stand! :)

I love seeing pictures with the sun rays like your header picture. I really enjoyed reading yesterdays post about how your walking began. Maybe it'll happen for me someday!

Hello ,That is the most beautiful picture .You are such a good photographer.
I miss seeing everyone on the message board but Beth and I are writing back and forth every day on e-mail.I have been walking a lot . I can't seem to get 10000 steps in every day but if I get out and do some I am quite happy.
