Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

No morning walk for two days!!

I bet some of you were in shock as you read the title of this post today! :-) I did not walk Saturday because we went to a supposedly big flea market type yard sale held in a parking lot. We wanted to get there first thing so I said I would give up my morning walk! As we were walking around this oh NOT so big yard sale Ken looked at me and said, "I know just what you're thinking. I gave up my walk for this." He was right on. That was exactly what I was thinking!!! :-)

Sunday morning I didn't walk either. We spent all day over at the Savage house getting the yard back to some order. I wanted to get an early start first thing in the morning because I knew there was a lot of work to get done and I thought that would be enough exercise. And it was. We mowed, weeded, took LOTS of stone up and mowed over gardens. Still more to do but it now looks much better. Since we aren't selling the house yet, we wanted the yard to be easier to take care of. When we lived there I was always out in the yard making new gardens and it took a lot of work to keep it all looking nice. It is much simpler now and looks better than letting everything get all over grown looking. We MIGHT even have someone who wants to rent it from us!!

This morning I did get out there and walk and let me tell you, it felt wonderful to walk around my lake!! :-) The morning was just perfect. Lots of sunshine and very low humidity. I saw the groundhog again. As I passed the place where the turtle was on Friday there was nothing there. Just some dirt all dug up. Maybe she decided to go somewhere else to lay her eggs. I'm thinking that if an animal dug up the eggs and ate them, the shells would be around. I'm hoping that is the reason anyway. The baby geese are not such babies anymore. All five of them are still around and almost as big as there parents already. I haven't seen any deer for a while now! Lots of people out there today and I stopped to talk to a few of them.
I walked my usual 6 miles.
Here is a picture I took of an early morning fisherman.
Trying to get some work done around the house today without much luck. I keep getting distracted doing other things.
I went to the library to drop off a couple of books and also got a couple more out. Before going I went on line to make sure the books i wanted would be there on the shelf. One was at one the library I usually go to but the other book was at another library so I went there too. Only the books I wanted weren't there on the shelve after all. I should have just put the books on reserve and let them find the books for me. That's what I usually do. I came home and put the books on reserve. I still came home with books though, just not the ones I went for and it was a very nice day to be out driving around so I really didn't mind. :-)

Well, I need to go and at least put the clean sheets on the bed and iron a couple of shirts. I'll try to get some blog reading done too, but that may have to wait until tomorrow.

Hope you all are enjoying your Monday.
Happyone :-)

A little note to my friends at RealAge. I can't seem to post anything there the last few times I've tried. I've been reading just not able to post anything. Happy walking to you!

  1. Catching up and glad to read that the walking has resumed! Gardens and Grandchildren are occupying most of my time now. Here in the mountains, there is still some snow, but today I turned my irrigation on - the perennials hit the ground running as soon as they are out from underneath the load of snow. Good luck with your tomato and pepper plants!

  2. I couldn't believe it -- Two days!
Nice that you got so much work done around the yard of the Savage house. I bet you slept well last night!

  3. I'll admit to being a bit alarmed when I read your title. My first thought was "I hope everything is okay". It sounds like you got plenty of exercise on Sunday. Glad you were able to resume your walking today.

  4. I imagine there were two days you didn't walk during the blizzards, but they were probably the only times. It's in your DNA.

Today was so wonderful. I'm so glad I was off to enjoy it. Yesterday too, in it's own way.

  5. WOW!! I really cannot believe that you didn't go for a walk.... But i guess that is okay considering there was some better option worth taking up.... :-)

  6. So Ken can read your mind...I bet that if it had been a great big old yard sale, you might still have said the very same thing. You do love to walk! Hope that the house gets rented. It would be one less thing to think about.

  7. Well, I'm in shock...no walk for 2 days! Sounds like you did a lot of good work in the garden though and that always is very satisfying.
