Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Back to walking :-)

It was a cold morning but so nice to get back out to walk around the lake once again. I walked 6.3 miles. I really did miss my morning walk. I was looking forward to seeing all my regular walker friends but only saw 2 people out there and didn't know either one.
Some of the paths had patches of ice and snow along them, but not enough to cause a problem.
Some of the icy spots. The lake had some frozen parts too.I took pictures of the sunrise this morning around the lake
and posted these which are my favorites.
This morning was time to step on the scale to see what damage was done by all that extra eating on the cruise. A gain of 3 pounds was noted. Not too bad considering all the food I consumed. A couple of weeks back to walking and eating normally should be all I need to get back to where I belong.

This morning I spent some time on the phone trying to get a problem solved with my credit card. After putting in all the right numbers I got to talk to a couple of people and got things all straightened out. :-)

I spent another large chunk of time getting all caught up on reading the blogs I got behind on during the cruise. Wow, did I ever get behind. I tried to whittle down the number of blogs to read, but just couldn't. I like all of them too much.

I didn't make the challenge of reading 75 books during 2009, with a total of 65. I've joined TheLibraryChallenge again this year to give it another try. The first book I'm reading for this year which I just started is, The Courtyard by Marcia Willett.
I'll take down last years list from my side bar once I finish this book which I'll start the new list with.

No plans for tonight yet. We will probably go out for a bite to eat since I didn't get around to going to the commissary yet and the cupboards are a bit bare.

I hope you are enjoying this first Monday of the new year.
Smile a little smile when you think of me.
Happyone :-)

Those pictures of the lake are so pretty, it looks like you are having the same sort of weather as we are!
Glad you had such a lovely time on the boat.

As always very pretty pictures. Our yard and street look the same but alot of melting today. Could you walk around the cruise ship on there walking lane like on the tv commercials? I always thought that would be fun.

Karen, there was a walking loop on the ship but in order for me to walk my usual 6 miles, I would have had to walk around it 60 times. That was way too boring so I just walked around the ship a lot and never took the elevators. Were were on deck 12!!

Nice sunrise photos...but oh it does look cold out there and that ice patch...hope that you didn't have to cross over it. Three pounds? I could gain three pounds looking at a cookie. Blessed you! :D

You certainly are a trooper in all senses of that word!
Today I made chicken curry and rice from the chicken that I roasted yesterday. It was perfect for this cold weather we're having.

You are brave. Stay safe during your walks.

If you don't have them already, a pair of Yaktrax would be helpful with your icy walks.

Beautiful sunrise photos; the pinks really make the difference.

Three pounds is not bad at all, especially when you consider how long you were gone and all that wonderful, rich food! =)

Love the jam quote!

Lindy, I'd never heard of Yaktrax and just looked them up. A great idea! I will get some. Thanks!

How I wish I could walk like
you do every day...too many
back problems, but maybe I can
start with a little walk each
day. Thanks for the inspiration.

Your walk does look chilly, but the sunrise pictures sure are pretty.
I am sure you will lose those 3 lbs. in no time at all with your good discipline.

I'm impressed that you only gained three pounds on your cruise. You have wonderful will-power.

I see that you like drama. The Courtyard by Marcia Willett, sounds like a very interesting read.
Do you also like mysteries? I loved your sunrises too. :)
