Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy Thanksgiving

Another rainy morning walk. It was an uneventful and quiet walk around the lake today except for the geese. I think I woke them up. Most of them were all down one end of the lake where I start around it and as I passed they all started talking and moving along. Boy are they noisy! Only saw a couple of people today. It was either too wet for them or they got an early start on their traveling for Thanksgiving. This morning I walked 6.2 miles which was 12,738 steps. I took a few pictures but they had water spots on them so I didn't save any.
Sometimes as I'm walking along passing houses I smell breakfast cooking. Today I swear I smelled tomato soup!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I made myself a pancake for breakfast this morning.
Then I got out all my recipes for tomorrow to make sure I have everything I need. Didn't want to get started and then realize I had forgotten something.
I spent the first part of the day cleaning the downstairs.
This afternoon I made the Pumpkin Pie for tomorrow. Lately I've been buying ready made crusts but today I even made the crust.
Here it is, waiting for the filling.And here's the pie right out of the oven.
I always put a little extra filling
in a custard cup for Ken so he can have a little taste.
I made up the stuffing and have that in the refrigerator all ready to put in the turkey in the morning. Had a little mishap dicing the onions. Nothing bad, no stitches required. Just a band-aid.
I skipped my knitting group tonight because still had a few things to do for tomorrow. Not many people were going anyway. We will all be back next week.
My Christmas cactus has started to bloom already. Maybe they are Thanksgiving cactus.
After my shower it was nice to sit and watch an episode of A Touch of Frost and do a little knitting. Now I'll read awhile before bed.
I hope you all had a happy Wednesday.
Karen :-)
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.
To all who will be celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow I wish for all of you a happy one and that you are with people you love.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
More Than A Day
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around,
It brings up some facts, quite profound.
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums, insecure,
But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends and family we love;
We have guidance from heaven above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessings, I say;
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got;
Realize it's a lot,
And you'll make all your cares go away.
I cooked all day yesterday, so today just had to do the mashed potatoes and grill the pork tenderloins. It was a very nice day which I hope you and your family had as well.
