Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My nice weekend

continued into Sunday with a visit from our friends Jackie and Kerry. They came over the house in the afternoon and we got steamed shrimp and salads from the Giant across the street. We spent the afternoon eating, talking, laughing and having a great time. The weather was sunny and bright after some morning rain. I also received a beautiful bouquet of white roses with a touch of pink to them and a hanging basket of ivy which I'm going to hang in front of the living room windows. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sunday morning I took the day off from walking!! Aren't you surprised!!? I did get back to walking this morning though with a nice 6 mile walk around the lake. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Meals on Wheels day for me. I had 7 on my route today and all of my people are doing fine. Mrs P told me how much she enjoyed the cookies I baked for her. I'll have to bake her some more for next time. :-) Mrs M really is off my route now and I missed seeing her today, but I got a new lady, and she is a Mrs M too! A very nice woman who I think will be another one of my favorites. I had a bit of trouble finding her house so I continued on my route and then went back to find her after I was finished with the others. The office is NOT very good about giving directions. It's a bit of a challenge sometimes to find the houses. I am really bad with directions anyway so when I get a new person I'm am always relieved when I find their house!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've just had a bite to eat for lunch and this afternoon I'm hoping to do a bit of house cleaning and and then have some time to sit out on the deck and do a little knitting or reading. We are having a beautiful bright sunny day again, just like yesterday. I have the sheets out on the line right now and my first chore will be to put them back on the bed. I have a feeling I'm not going to get that much done today!! I still have quite a few blogs to catch up on too. :-) Oh well, there is always tomorrow for cleaning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wasn't going to mention that it was my birthday Saturday (the real Memorial Day)but word got out so I just want to say THANK YOU all for the birthday wishes. I might mention here too now that Kenny made me the most delicious cake you could ever eat. It was a 4 layer chocolate cake. Between the layers was chocolate pudding and raspberry jam and then he put real whipped cream that he whipped up with a little sugar for the icing. The whole cake is gone already and every bite of it was mouth watering good. I'd better do a bit of extra walking this week!! :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Enjoy your Monday and I hope you're having some bright sunny weather in your part of the world too. Happyone :-)

I'm glad to hear that you had a nice birthday weekend full of friends, family, food, nice weather, gifts and that fantastic sounding cake. Chocolate and raspberry are a wonderful combination. I think it must have tasted extra good because it was homemade by your husband.
