Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

I started out

on my walk this morning and only walked about 2 miles and then came home. There were some thunder and lightening storms passing through the area and I didn't want to be out in them. Rain is okay but I'm not that crazy about walking in storms. About 9:00 the rain was gone and the sun even came out and I went out and walked another 4 miles. I love that smell after it rains and the sun comes out. It was pretty steamy out after the rain and the mosquitoes were out too. I got 5 big bites right through my clothes. Tommy Turtle took a walk too along one of the paths.

I finished listening to an audio book, Just Take My Heart By Mary Higgins Clark, read by Jan Maxwell.
It was a typical Clark book. It was good though predictable.
My daughter Debbi gave me a three month (a book a month) gift membership to an online Audio Book Store for Mother's Day and this was the first one I downloaded.
In a couple of days I am going to order James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small and the month after that I'm going to get the second James Herriot book, All Things Bright and Beautiful. The are both read by Christopher Timothy who played James in the British TV series. I read all the books as they came out and loved them all and now I will look forward to having them read to me.
I'll always love to read the actual book because I love books. Just holding a good book in my hand makes me feel good, but I do like the audio books now too. They have their place too at times.
I think the difference for me is that when I read a book I become part of the story. An audio book is some one just telling me a story. I don't know if that makes any sense to you.

Yesterday quite a few trailer trucks pulled in the street here and unloaded wood for building the three rows of townhouses. I look out the window and can't believe how much wood is out there. I took this picture standing on the stoop in front of my front door.
I'm having a fun day today - not doing anything at all like work. :-) I've baked some more bread, played around on the computer and for the rest of the afternoon I'm going to read and knit.

I hope your Tuesday is a happy one too and that you find the time to do something fun!
Happyone :-)

  1. I love box turtles, always have! an increasingly rare sight with highways, cars, and ramant development. So cool to see that.

Glad you liked my Blue Ridge NC post.

  2. I so know what you mean about reading a book rather than listening to one. There is just something about holding it, turning the pages, and all of that.

ALways nice to see a turtle on a walk :)

  3. I'll bet Tommy Turtle didn't walk quite as far as you did. I agree that the world smells wonderful after a rain.

  4. Is that turtle wild? I can't imagine seeing that on a walk!

  5. Yes Goosey, he's wild. There are quite a few of them around here. This morning I came across another kind of turtle and I'll be posting a picture of him later.

  6. You know how much I love turtles!! This seems to be the year to see them. Come see my turtle garden!
