Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

At Home Today

Another great walking morning with a blue sky and just a few of those nice white puffy clouds. It was such a nice walk around the lake today. There are many people out walking or running lately. It's always like that when the mornings are so pretty. It's nice to see others out but I think one reason I like walking in the rain once in a while is because I have the lake almost to myself. :-) Sometimes there are just too many people out around the lake. There are never as many people along the neighborhood paths and on some of those mornings even now I'll only pass a couple of people. I've met a couple more people in the last few days along the neighborhood paths. A woman named Kerri and her golden retriever named Tequila and another woman Susan with a small dog named Oscar. I wonder when I met people for the first time if we will just remain casual acquaintances who have a few words to say to each other in the morning or if we will become friends. You never know!

I was thinking about going out in the car just because it was such a nice morning but I looked down my street and this is what I saw. I would have had to ask a couple of the workers to move their vans so I could get out of my street. The wood you see down on the left is in the road and the white van is parked at the curb. Not much room to get by there. I didn't HAVE to go anywhere and so I just stayed home. The workers just park where ever they want to and don't worry about the people who actually live here. I knew it would be like this when we moved in for a while so I really shouldn't complain and it won't last forever. I was talking to one of my neighbors and he said there are only 4 more townhouses left to buy and all the building should be done by December.

So I stayed home and did a little baking. I baked some bread - just regular white bread this time. Also I had some more bananas that were ALL brown so turned them into banana bread again. :-) I'm going to have to start buying less bananas at a time or eat more of them. Though I really do like banana bread!! As I baked and then cleaned up the kitchen I listened to the audio book All Creatures Great and Small.

For the rest of the morning I sat out on the deck and did some knitting. I am so glad we have the deck because I love sitting out there. The deck is all in the shade in the morning and the sun doesn't cover the whole thing until the middle of the afternoon. On a hot day it is too hot to sit out there then. Once 7:00 comes around though, its nice to sit out on the deck again. That's when the sun slowly slides down behind the other side of the townhouse row across the way.

I had a piece of the white bread with peanut butter on it and a slice of banana bread for lunch. Both were yummy!

I have some things I have to get done around the house so off I go to do them and then I'll sit and read until it's time to start dinner.

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!

You could always go outside, act crazy and pretend you're going to ram their vans! No, I guess you couldn't....

I'll happily volunteer to take some of that banana bread off your hands! I know what you mean about having the lake to yourself. Betsy and I really feel blessed when we have a waterfall to ourselves.

Hmmm...have you ever toasted banana bread? It's so good that way.

Good thing that you're a walker as it appears that's the only way out of Dodge these days. ;D
