Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another book by Marcia Willett

My walk this morning was just like yesterday - a walk around the lake in the fog. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finished reading Summer in the Country by Marcia Willett.
Brigid lives in the British countryside and lets out two cottages on her property to guests. Her husband is in the Navy and isn't home a lot. Her mother needs a place to stay and so stays in one of the cottages and her father in law, who she has never met arrives to stay in the other cottage for a few months. Lots of other characters involved in the story and all of them make for a very good story. Excellent book - I like everything about it. I love the way she writes. You really get to know the characters and they become people you feel like you actually have met. This is the second book of hers that I've read and I can't wait to start another one. From Summer in the Country It's frightening, isn't it? So precarious. Small things can make such huge differences. The difference between a yes or a no. Frummie sounded sad. Between a sorry or remaining silent. Between writing a letter or making a telephone call rather than waiting for the other person to make the first move. Life never waits and we are so profligate. I love the British way of saying things. One I like from the book is 'pegging out washing', a much better way to say 'hanging out the clothes.' :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We watched the last episode of the last series of The House of Eliott. I very good series that we have both enjoyed watching. I did my usual evening knitting and had chocolate chip cookies for my snack. Now I get to start on another book by Marcia Willet. Hope you all enjoyed your Friday! Happyone :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR HAPPYONE,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

I have never heard of Marcia Willett but I may try to get one of her books from the library. Isn't it funny how we speak the same language but we have so many differences like the 'pegging out the washing' Pavement/Sidewalks, Lifts/Elevators, etc. Anyway have a truly GREAT day!

Hope you have a good weekend and dry weather!
