Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The attic gets cleared out

My how quickly the weekends pass. Two nice days for my morning walks and on Sunday I saw the fox again. He ran right out in front of me across the path so I got a real good look at him but he was too fast to get a picture. Today it misted a bit while I was walking but by the time I was back home the sun was out. I took this picture of the river Sunday morning just as I crossed the street to go from one path to another one for no particular reason. I just love pictures of paths and rivers. Kenny went out for the day on Saturday and while he was out I decided to go up in the attic and start bringing down all the boxes to go through before we move. The attic just has a trap door in the ceiling in the upstairs hall and a ladder is needed. So I made many trips up and down the ladder. I didn't get everything down but made a good start. Then on Sunday afternoon Kenny and I finished bringing down the rest of the boxes and and other junk and now the attic is completely empty. Most of the stuff made it out into the garage in groups of things to go through, things to sell, and things to take with us. We have already thrown out a whole lot of stuff. I can't even begin to count how many trips up and down the ladder and the stairs we made. There was an iron frame from a Singer sewing machine in the attic that was there when we moved in here. We took that down as well and I'm hoping that my step-dad will make another end table out of it like he did with the other frame I had. I finished reading The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday by Alexander McCall Smith. This is book number 5 in The Isabel Dalhousie Series. More of the days and thoughts of Isabel the philosopher. I enjoyed reading this book as I did all the other ones in the series. I bought a new red sweater to wear to Cheryl's Christmas party on Saturday. We are both really looking forward to it. I'll be sure to bring my camera! Today was Meals on Wheels day. Mrs B was off today but my other 7 people were all home, happy and hungry. My friend Nola takes one of my people Janice to therapy and I timed it perfectly getting to her house because they were just getting back home when I arrived. Crazy drivers out there rushing around doing Christmas shopping I guess. I was glad to get back home. I walked to the post office this afternoon and bought a few more stamps and mailed off the last of my Christmas cards. I'm glad to be done with that, though I did enjoy making them this year and I will do it again next year. While at the post office I ran into Julie who drives my MOW route on Thursday's. We stopped to chat for a bit. Well, now I'm off to catch up on some blog reading. I think tonight would be a good night for pizza!! I'm sure it won't be hard to talk Kenny into that! :-) Enjoy the rest of your Monday and make it a Happy One.

You certainly had a busy weekend. Your trips to the attic reminds me of all the sorting, giving away, and throwing out we did when we moved here. I hope we don't have to go through that again!

I love the idea of old found things in attic becoming something useful again. And I just love old attics too.

You must feel really accomplished in getting the attic cleaned out!
Everytime I've seen the fox in the past week, she's had a squirrel in her mouth! Hunting is evidently good!

I've just come home from work after a late shift on my bike and a fox crossed the road in front of me and then just stood his ground and stared at me! They are getting so bold in the town now.
The attic is the worst to clear out isn't it, I'm sure ours is full of junk!

We had a Red Fox near us where we lived when we first married....it would lay in the road and sun it's self...I love the table made out of the old Sewing Machine. I recently had my Old Wooden TV Cabinet made into a entertainment center...I couldn't wrap my brain around getting rid of a "real" piece of wood furniture to purchase a less quality one...Great Pic of the stream.!!

It's always nice to hear about your busy days. I'm looking forward taking some time to read after the holidays. Slowing down a bit.

A cleaned-out attic! Very few there are who can say that. What a great accomplishment. I was hoping that you'd say that you were going to have your dad do another table and you did!

You are one busy lady! I think it's fun to get ready for a move! You get to go through all your things and even find something you've completely forgotten about! Fun!

Attics are the best!! No matter how dusty and drab one always finds a treasure. The sewing machine base is a real treasure.

I enjoy your pathway pictures.
I'm attracted to pathways and always paint pictures in my mind about where they lead.

Ah, so the fox got sly and foxed you again, did it? He's pretty fast, isn't he? I can never get those little guys very well either...

Your pictures are always a pleasure to view on your walks, very nice to see! I always enjoy your paths and river shots as well.

It must be a good feeling to have your attic cleaned out. We currently have some type of critter in our attic. Tomorrow morning I will be calling Critter Control as we could hear it clawing away up there tonight. Creepy.
