Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Yard Sales

The weather today was just like yesterday - a cool crisp fall day with lots of sunshine. Yesterday I went to Michael's, Kohls, and Barnes and Nobles. The only thing I bought was more white yarn. I really just wanted to get out and drive my car on such a pretty day. I took the long way there and back. Today there were lots of yard sales around town. Three churches had them which made it a good time for other people to have them too. Ken and I walked around town this morning checking them all out. We walked just about 4 miles. Ken bought a bunch of old odd dishes for a couple of dollars to break up to use for glass mosaic projects. I picked up two things that I certainly don't need but liked.
This basket with a wire handle and vines for $1.
And this round bucket with 4 flag painted egg shaped balls for $1.50.
I finished reading Queen Ann's Lace by Francis Parkinson Keyes. I didn't take a picture of the book because it is old and doesn't have a picture on the front. It is a fiction book written in 1930 and is a story about Ann who grew up poor on a farm and ends up becoming the First Lady. It tells of all the hard work and struggles of her life. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Mary for recommending it. I am about to start reading Lady Blanche Farm also by Keyes - the book I got from the library has both these novels in one book. Ken made us nachos for lunch which is always a treat for me. In the afternoon I knitted and played around on the computer. I was supposed to be outside mowing the lawn but I never did get around to it. Late afternoon we went out to do a few errands. This evening we will watch an episode of Six Feet Under and our snack will be some pistachio nuts. Haven't had any of those in ages. I read the other day that giving laboratory rats beer increased their life by 6 percent compared to the rats that only had water to drink. Okay, bring on the Guinness!! :-) I hope you all had a sunny happy Saturday.

I'm new to your blog here, and wanted to comment on the bucket you purchased...where I work, we sell buckets like that - not sure of the size...but they range in price from $7 to $15 (depending on size) You got a good deal!!!

Now Laurie had a good word for you!

So you didn't mow the lawn...hmmmm? Well someone did finish cleaning her garage...just saying.

I love to go to yard/garage sales. In fact, my only Francis Parkinson Keyes book came from a yard sale. I really like that basket with the vines that you bought.
